They were no Fray Bentos pies though. Pedigree Chum with a pastry lid made of pork fat and tissue paper.

Findus crispy pancakes and Vesta Boil in the bag nosh were the height of sophistication - lol
I remember having reflux/indigestion for 2 days after eating a Fray Bentos Pie. lol
I'm not actually 100% sure how a crispy pancake was made. What were the ingredients? Neon orange breadcrumbs covering... what? A paper plate folded in half?

I think it was a pancake.

I suspect no natural ingredients were harmed in the making of a crispy pancake.

I saw some of those in a supermarket the other day. A pie in a tin. I must have had them as a kid, given how my mum ‘cooked’, but I don’t remember them.
Tinned mince, yes. Baked beans with a small dog’s todger in them, yes. Birds Eye frozen chicken pie, yes.that was the best of a sorry selection.
Tinned spaghetti in tomato sauce was one of those things that looked exactly the same when you ate it as it did when you threw it up again. Curious.

I had a craving recently for some Heinz Spaghetti Bolognese, the nearest to Italy we got as a kid.

Princes sandwich paste anyone?
Definitely! There’s always a couple of jars (they really do go ‘fot’ when you open them!) of sardine and tomato in the cupboard. Brilliant in sandwiches and actually really good on freshly buttered toast. Own brand versions, thinking of the other thread, are equally good. Recommended!
The salmon and other paste? Not great.
As for the great sandwich spread question, Heinz original is the one to go for. Lovely. A smear of it with a bit of cheese is a good combo.
