That tackle at Home Park was a bad one mind. However, is it just me who doesn't actually think Morsy is as bad as he is made out by certain oppo fans. Most of his yellow cards (and he does get a lot) tend to be for little fouls like dragging someone back or stopping counters. Then he's very good at playing on a yellow card. Think perhaps his thuggery is overstated. |  |

Yeah he's not as bad as is made out sometimes but some of the 'professional' fouls he makes are a bit unnecessary at times. Does put in some very committed challenges it has to be said but not to the level they're making out.
They seem to blame him for one of their players having a long term injury from last season although I have to say I can't remember the incident.
If they want to start taking the high ground on this issue they'll do well to remember that the worst challenge in the match at theirs this season was Mumba stamping his studs down Donacien's achilles after the ball had gone. |  |

At the game I remember being surprised that the ref even gave a free kick for the Morsy tackle. It looked a lot worse in the slow-mo but at full speed it wasn't all that, a glancing blow that lands high on the other player because he's prone.
Notable also that the Plymouth players barely react to it. |  |

I get their anger towards him. It was naughty. But from what I can recall it’s also by far the worst thing he’s done in a town shirt?
There isn’t a club who wouldn’t have Morsy in their team in this league. He’s in the top 5 players in this division and we’re incredibly lucky to have him. |  | | |

Cripes! He does loom large in their imagination as some sort of Dark Lord.
I suppose it is one of those situations where all they have seen of him is a couple of bad challenges, which are actually out of the norm for him, and they have both been against Argyle players.
Hopefully their midfield will be similarly frightened on Saturday. |  |

The Morsy tackle was clumsy and a borderline red, but the case for me is he'd committed to a tackle and his leg landed where it did because their played moved into it's path in a split second. He couldn't have predicted that. Likewise, Evans.
How very opposition of them to worry about possible red cards subject to interpretation and ignore Mumba stamping on the back of Donacien, when the ball had gone, in a place where his leg was planted and nowhere near where the ball even had been. That was a red card all day long. Horrific challenge and shocking it went unpunished.
Morsy is just someone that will take a yellow if it needs it, usually to break up a very dangerous attack and then he reigns it in. He plays perfectly on the line of aggression and doing anything to win within the rules, including taking a yellow when needed (which whilst morally not ideal is again within the laws).
For all his aggression and fighting spirit, there are only really one or two naughty tackles I have seen from him (quite low given his role) and those have been mistimed rather than malicious. Plenty of other players - three at Accrington alone went out to arguably hurt our players. | | | |

He scraps for everything. We were sadly lacking a Morsy before his arrival. Imo.
Plymouth would have him in a heart beat. I think most teams in this division would have Morsy in their MF.
The rest of his skill set is sometimes overlooked. His first touch, ball retention, link up, leadership are just as prominent in his game, as his "bite". (be nice if he could shoot as well, though)
Rather he played for us, than against us. He must be horrible to play against.
Have to admire his fitness and physique too. For some one who puts himself about. He rarely succumbs to injury. Don't think he's had a single injury since he's been here. And he plays a lot of minutes. Massive player for us. |  | | |

That tackle looked much worse than it was. I don't think he anticipated the player going to ground, if he hadn't then Morsy would have just planted his foot in the ground and shielded the ball. It reminded me of how Pogba sometimes tries to protect the ball.

I think most opposition fans dislike him. He is a really dirty player, glad he is on our side. When challenging for the ball he often leaves more than he should on the opposition player. |  | | |

This faux-rivalry which fans are trying to stoke on both sides is a little sad.* Reading their forum re: Morsy, a few of the Argyll fans seem wet as October. Whether we go up alongside Plymouth or instead of them doesn't matter to me. After this season, I doubt I'll ever think about them at all.

Think there was history with Morsy prior to him becoming a Town player - pretty sure he was involved in an incident with a Plymouth player whilst at Middlesbrough.

Yep i do agree, and was a bit of conscious of that before I posted this as I've previously been a bit cringed out and commented on the weirdness rivalry being created.
