It’s been fine for years, because we have rarely sold out allocations and obviously much, much, bigger away ends for nearly all of the Championship.
It’s outdated now though, we have 18k season ticket holders, who can all buy a gold card and just go to one away game a season and not fit for purpose when we get allocations like Cambridge.
Ashton said in a fans forum that that’s hopefully going to change and sure I’ll go to a points based system like most other clubs, he even mentioned getting points for scanning your s/t at home games.
Looking at the away games we have left…
Bristol Rovers - 1,100 - should be fine for a ticket if you want one, Tuesday night and not a new ground for most. Should reach s/t at most.
MK Dons - 7,000 (heard it could be 10,000 if needed) Everyone who wants a ticket will get one.
Bolton - Up to 5/6,000 - Everyone who wants a ticket will get one.
Barnsley - As Bolton.
Derby - 2,700 - Should reach s/t stage.
Cheltenham - 1,100 - Another nasty one. Should be letter priority.
Peterborough- 1,800 behind the goal, sometimes get 500 or so on the side - Maybe letter, believe the last time we played there it was letter.
Fleetwood- 831 - wow. Definitely letter, could be a few left after that.
(All allocations taken from ground guide, so all estimated but usually spot on)

I'm sure I got a ticket to Peterborough away just as normal ST holder last time we played there (2-2, Chambers last min equaliser). Don't remember any letter for that.
For that one think they'll be alright to just leave it unless we really do have tons of new GC holders in which case they might do something different.
Points system makes a lot of sense, hopefully won't be so necessary next season but should still have it in place. |  |

That’s what I thought, not 100% sure what it was, when I first went there the other year (Jackson missed pen) I’m sure it was more than 831. Usually get the terrace and some seats on the side.

Mentioned on another thread how it works at Spurs, and sure plenty of experience of the England cap system.
Get a season ticket, get 50 points, go to an away game get 2 points.....later in season the priority comes out and priority sale is day one for those with 74+ points, day 2 67+ points etc. - points retained over a rolling 12 month period.
Will have teething problems in first season or so but for the long term has to be something like this |  |

Once we're in the Championship it'll be easier to get tickets though. It's just because a lot of these clubs only have away capacity of 1000. We were usually getting 1000 in the Champ before relegation |  |

The thing is, there's absolutely no harm in doing a letter (or other priority system as Joe mentions) if it turns out not to be needed. So for me, it's risk-free where there's even 1% of doubt.
Worst case, initial sales underwhelming for a day and then the remainder go the next day when priority level changes. Surely that's fairer than what's happened to some who have attended every game this season? | |

Yes, I agree. I mentioned on the other thread that gold cards should not be allowed to be purchased once the season starts, as plenty have seemed to buy recently which now puts that over allocation for most aways. | |

They'll want to fill it sitters, the Motorpoint stand behind the goal is always given over to away fans if they're bringing big support, along with half of the old West Stand which we had last time too..
