I don't think that is right - they could have registered when they didn't need to:
Whittaker is 7th Jan 2001
John-Jules is 14th Feb 2001
So if TJJ is underage then so is MW |
I didn't check his date, I have to confess, just looked at the squad. Odd that he's included as you're right, he was 20 on Jan 1st, which was the cut-off point, if I remember rightly. Wonder if they made an error when submitting as his birthday is so close to the start of Jan.

I wonder, IF we're genuinely interested in Whittaker, whether that could spell the end of Kyle Edwards? Perhaps he would be moved on having failed to take the multiple chances KMac has given him to perform from the starting XI. |

It's sad re. KE but his tale of underachievement and untapped potential is by no means uncommon at this level. He's just as likely to be turning out in the National League for Solihull Moors as he is playing for us in the Championship.

Move Keogh on? He's clearly been brought here more for his off pitch qualities/experience/influence/future coaching potential than anything on the pitch. Keogh will be at the club for a very long time in some capacity. | | | |

I think we are just going to have a squad that is loaded with talent at the front end of the pitch for the next 6 months. Decisions then made in the summer. There is little point sending Edwards anywhere - I am sure he will still get minutes and he offers us something nobody else with his trickery and direct running, even if the end product isn't always there. | | | |

For context other players rates:
Chaplin - 0.70
Ladapo - 0.53
Burns - 0.46
Harness - 0.39
John-Jules - 0.35
Aluko - 0.24
His minutes are about a third of Harness/Chaplin's which probably is more indicative of how McKenna views him than his contributions which are fairly close to Harness/TJJ | |

Extremely harsh take. He's contributed this season, albeit not as much as we've maybe hoped. His direct running causes the opposition big problems and his G/A are better than they were last season.
If we can add Whittaker and he doesn't count towards the squad limit, we don't need to get rid of someone to make space so you can keep Edwards around as an extra option. | | | |

I don’t see it but can be seen as developmental loan re living away from home, being in senior environment where it matters etc |  |

You said he not been bought he for "anything on the pitch", so it sounds like you're agreeing with me if we moved him onto to a position at the club where he is setting training standards, coaching, and influencing, rather than playing. [Post edited 10 Jan 2023 15:55]

Think you've got to be very careful when de-registering someone who might play again this season. It doesn't tend to happen very often and when it does it's more cases like Myles Kenlock, where it was fairly obvious we were trying to move him on.
I assume it's rare because footballers tend to take it very badly. You can imagine right, you're depressed enough with this long term injury and you don't even have the incentive of getting a game if you manage to beat the odds and shake it off early? You're very much being treated as a disposable commodity in that situation. | |
