Let's put this stat off to bed 18:21 - Jan 17 with 8702 viewsTalkingBlues

On Matchday 21, December 10th v Peterborough (2-1 win) we were top of the table, 1 point ahead of Plymouth and 3 points ahead of Wednesday, having all played the same number of games.

By Matchday 27, January 14th v Plymouth (1-1 draw) we are in 3rd place, 7 points behind Plymouth and 4 points behind Wednesday, having played 1 game less than Plymouth and same as Wednesday.

I'm getting pretty fed up of people criticising those that make comment on our extremely disappointing recent run of games, we have given away a HUGE amount of ground on our 2 main rivals and there's nothing wrong with bemoaning the fact and commenting on how we might improve our situation.

I don't care what way you slice it, for a couple of months, we have been well, well below the performance levels required to be in contention for the automatic promotion places come the end of the season and it has been a progressive decline, with no sign of reversing as yet, perhaps the new signings may help the impetus?

Any of you about to give the "20 games to go" malarkey, well, you said that before at 35, 30, 25, at what point do we stop using that excuse? 10 games? 5? forget the games to go nonsense, we need to see improvement on the pitch, NOW.

These people thrive on it Homer.

Everything is a disaster, a catastrophe, the world is ending.

Just tedious, and drowns out the sensible debate on our results, which we all admit haven't been good enough in the the last month.

But EVERY team goes through spell with poor results - take last season when both Rotherham and Wigan both had a terrible run at the end of the season over 5 or 6 games, when they nearly let MK Dons overtake them.

Rotherham...did we beat them last week?

4pts from second. But I suspect you won't like that.

I never said we have to like it. I've said our form isn't great...no one is arguing otherwise.

No issue with being concerned...my amazement is the negativity as if the season is over. As if we are so far away from winning a game.

But we have now got to a point that it is in others' hands. Even if we win all the rest of our matches, if Wednesday beat Plymouth and the two of them win all the rest of their matches we finish 3rd behind them both.

We may as well give up. No matter how well we do, the other two will do as well or better.

Further, if we continue to slip up at the rate we are doing, Bolton, Derby, Barnsley and Peterborough only have to win all of their matches and we will miss out on the play-offs entirely. Our current 1-game form is 1 ppg, Derby, Peterborough and Bolton's are 3. Barnsley have just had a 10-match winning run. On that form they will all get way more points than the gap they need to make up. Thankfully we should just have enough points to avoid relegation at least.

Tongue very firmly in cheek in case anyone is wondering.

I see now, you want everybody to only speak positively about a bad run of form, good luck with that.

Not sure how you gleaned that from his post, other than by being deliberately obtuse to justify re-moistening your bedsheets.

If you read the OP, you’d have realised this was more about the treatment on this forum, of those wishing to air their views on our run of bad form. They are entitled to have their say, without being insulted and shouted down by those with bigger fingers and mouths.

I don’t see the problem with the OP. We’re very much falling off the pace. Here’s the form table since we were top on Dec 10th.

https://www.twtd.co.uk/league-tables/competition:league-one/daterange/fromdate:2

We could turn it around of course, but we’re seeing no sign of others at the top slacking off yet. The performances in the main are ok, but failing to finish off good moves is crippling our promo chances.

That was fine, but then you made a purely inflammatory post, with insult, in order to steer the thread into a slanging match, no need for it.

People just get really defensive about any criticism or even perceived criticism. I guess that natural from most fans of all clubs.

There’s no denying we’re stuttering badly when to keep up we need to be pretty much getting a win and a draw every 2 games. Winning only 1 in 5 doesn’t cut it.

Where the negativity is a bit overboard is in people writing off our chances already. We’re used to failing and not turning things around, but for the first time in years we’ve a management team and squad capable of doing what’s needed. I’m just going to buckle up and enjoy the ride.

I did, yes. It’s hardly surprising that there’s not a world of enthusiasm on the forum given what’s happened to the team over the last 6 weeks, let people have their say. I’m always OTT when a match is on cos I’m adrenaline fuelled to the eyeballs and micro analysing every kick, which isn’t the best way of looking at things, it’s just human.

Genuinely...I've not read a single post where people have said they are not concerned with current form...not one.

I've seen many posts with people countering various posts with pointing out that we are still in it....lots to play for...60pts still to get but that doesn't imply they are not concerned or disappointed with our form of late.

Can we not be concerned with current form but enthused at the same time?

3rd, 4pts of second...playing some of the best football we've seen in years. The Club having an utterly different feel with new owners. Investment on and off the pitch...a young manager that looks like he knows what he's doing...players wanting to play for the club.

Whilst recognising we need to get out of this division. And winning is the best was to achieve this and just recently we are marginally off the boil.

Personally I think there's a few who genuinely don't see a problem with it. I personally don't see how you can feel concerns but then be so aggressive with those who share those concerned thoughts. ( when I say you that's a general view not you specially it that makes sense)
