EADT seemed to think the only defender on the bench going forward would be JD as he can cover so the positions and the rest would be attackers. Basically they thought if you're not in the team as a defender you wouldn't be on the bench either. SB

TEAM on 14:14 - Feb 4 by Nthsuffolkblue | Perhaps the thinking is that if we are 1-0 up we will be looking to exploit pace to finish the game off instead of holding the ball up to keep it 1-0? There is more than one way to manage a game. |
There is indeed. | |

TEAM on 14:12 - Feb 4 by FrimleyBlue | Why so worked up? Sorry you don't accept people's thoughts on lineups. Maybe one day you'll appreciate people are entitled to their opinions. |
I'm not worked up at all...I am just bored of your constant attempts at 'hot takes' to seek attention...I'm sure you're a nice guy but you would be taken a bit more seriously if you just reined it in a bit

There's only one poster seeking attention here. The team gets posted and people discuss their thoughts on it. You don't like my thoughts so you've got worked up. But my thoughts are no different to all the others who have posted about wolfy or Burgess etc. You however have decided to seek the attention so reign it in abit.

McKenna has explained that he likes to load his bench with attackers so I'm not sure why this is a surprise today. If we have an injury then we'll have to adapt but if we don't have enough firepower to beat Cambridge then...

Can see the logic going forwards. Just surprised for today only because of davis training % this week. Could Humpreys fill in on the left if needed? I can't remember if someone said he used to play there..

You can lol BB. But think back. We've had the likes of Jackson. Harness. Edwards etc coming on and struggling to keep hold of the ball and it put pressure on us. I think it's fair to wish we had at least 1 of the two most experienced ball players to bring on. Luongo v Burnley prime example of how he seamlessly swapped with Morsy and maintained our hold on that area of the pitch. As I said tho. Happy with the lineup itself it should hopefully win us the game way before subs are needed.

TEAM on 14:08 - Feb 4 by NthQldITFC | What's the deal with Woolfy, do we know? Injured, sick or tactical? |
I've no idea but could it be as simple as rotation ahead of a replay that McKenna has said he is really up for? I think as Stokie hinted at, JD is the perfect defender to have on the bench in that he can cover anywhere more than adequately. Quite exciting to see us looking so attacking off the bench!

Absolutely this SB The guys were only saying in the latest podcast about JD perhaps being the only defender on the bench due to his versatility Best form of defence when you’re looking for a win is attack anyway Opinions differ and so do IQ’s and the desire to be noticed by some

I wonder if the relative stability at the back in terms of selections has led to a tiny bit of understandable mini-complacency and KMcK is just spicing it up a bit? Good management I guess. IKWT. COYB.

Lads frankly I’m going to be furious if we go on a brilliant run and get auto promotion with no Woolf in the team.

Indeed, imagine missing out on going to Wembley with Woolf instead! We will just have to go there in the cup! I honestly think Woolfenden will play against less direct sides and Keogh is in to deal with a specific attacking threat.

TEAM on 14:39 - Feb 4 with 850 views | pointofblue | I think experience plays a big part in the backline. Clarke is 21, Woolfenden is 24, Edmundson 25 and Davis 23. That's a very young back four. Donacien is 29 so brought some experience, coupled with Burgess at 27. I think Keogh is there to help the others along, as we now have an albeit talented youngster at right back. Of course, players won't age quickly so it begs the question what this means long term for Woolfenden. It is logical, however.

Think Clarke made the point about not playing his new role that much and having Keogh next to him really helped.

Hence I think Keogh will stay there long term, barring injury or suspension.

It's more the apparent pathological need to find the hot take, regardless that amused me, tbh.

TEAM on 15:01 - Feb 4 with 699 views | pointofblue | I know Frimmers sometimes makes a rod for his own back but I can't see what he's said which is controversial this time? Personally I think I would have preferred a bench of Hladky, Donacien, Leigh, Luongo, Aluko, Jackson, Hirst. More balanced to cover possible eventualities.

But we work on a high press which relies on us rotating our forwards in the second half. You want us to change strategy?

Yes. Because being wedded to one strategy means teams will be able to learn from and counter it. There's still three forward players on that bench. There was always a risk of losing Davis today.
