Surely he understands that the excuse that “ no one told me I was breaking the rules” is not viable for anyone over the age of 5.

Especially as he was running the government - the body which was drawing up the actual rules.

One of his defences is that he couldn't have known he was breaking the rules, otherwise he wouldn't have photographed it.

I'll remember this amazing defence next time I break the law. Take a quick picture and say it's actually evidence I didn't do anything.

My memory can be a bit hazy…but isn’t Boris the guy who, during the pandemic, went on telly daily to tell remind others what the rules were?

Boris on 14:15 - Mar 21 with 1678 viewsBlueschev

It was his job to tell everyone what the rules were! It's beyond farcical.

He also said something along the lines of "by accusing me of intentionally breaking the rules, you're also accusing dozens of others who were in attendance." Well quite! The fact he was mingling with dozens of other people is one of the accusations against him, and those also there are equally as guilty.

Is he on a wind up??

I'm enjoying the BBC's live updates on this. My current favourite is 'Boris says Cummings not a reliable witness before proceeding to make a racist joke about the kettle'.

He's just the guy reading the autocue. You can't expect him to actually understand what's on the autocue.

His defence seems to essentially be incredulity at the suggestion he might have done something wrong, which is pretty much his life story.

I'm amazed that this thread hasn't triggered a reappearance of all the various bootlickers who downvoted anyone pointing out that he's a fat, corrupt, bigoted incompetent criminal yet.

"They were also preparing for both a deal and no deal Brexit."

Johnson talking about events on the 18th Dec 2020 in Downing Street. Whereas the brexit treaty had been signed a year previous. 24th Jan 2020. So there was no question about a deal/no deal.

The above quote comes from Johnson's own testimony as reported in the Guardian today under

Johnson explains why he accepted claim No 10 press office Christmas drinks event, with food and presents, was not 'party' 12.44 GMT

Those words of his can be found halfway down in the second paragraph (italics)

So tedious. Politics has become a complete joke. When we have to drill down into what is technically a party, how hot a pie is, whether adding a bag of peanuts to a scotch egg makes it a meal etc etc it really does expose the fact we have a government of children.

Truly impaired.

This is what happens when you elect a clown as PM, politics ceases to be a serious business. The damage that Johnson has wreaked on the country might never be repaired.

Poor old bloater, never the brightest, as

" On 10 December 2021, I sent a message to Jack Doyle, stating: “Is there a way we could get the truth about this party out there”

His own words

What party I hear you ask.

The gutbucket states elsewhere that there were no parties, just work

where cakes, buns, jelly and ice cream had inadvertently become mixed up with. err..... some booze and party hats

"I remember telling my staff they should not be having a party, but ABBA on the karaoke machine (how did that get there) drowned out my words"

Indeed, as the saying goes: the fish rots from the head down. His self-serving incompetence has completely corrupted the government and has undermined many other institutions as well, the BBC for example.

If a benefit claimant tried to argue that they'd not deliberately broken the rules on working and claiming but acted within what they'd understood to be the rules they'd be given the shortest of shrift by this lot

For people who claim to be patriots, the Tories REALLY hate loads of brilliant British institutions don't they - off the top of my head they've had a pop at the Beeb, Channel 4, the National Trust, NHS and RNLI in recent years.

They cancelled Gary Lineker and David Attenborough as well. They aren't big fans of the England football team either on the basis that they show solidarity with people of colour and think that we really ought to feed poor kids.

I'm all for Johnson and heroic defence.

He could have taken the wise choice, apologised... strain of Covid etc.... kept his head down, and re-appeared, after putting the leg work in on what is known as the rubber chicken circuit, ready to lead the Tories once again after their GE humiliation.

But no, ever the failure. A man who can lie his way into a job, but is incapable of the truth needed to keep it

It is no wonder he has either been sacked, booted out, asked to resign from almost every job in politics he has had - with a string of failed relationships as well

And in a few short hours this afternoon he has become an object of derision and ridicule. Exposed for what he always was - a shameless , self centred, cheap shyster.
