How hard is it going to be to get away tickets next season? I average about 8-10 games a year over the last 4 seasons, will I struggle?

Think there will probably be a new loyalty points type thing in place, but 8-10 aways will have you near the top of that, plus bigger allocations means it’s probably only Norwich, Luton and maybe Watford and QPR that might be a struggle next year I reckon.

Depends what membership option you have. If ultimate, then ticket guaranteed for every game, Gold - should be ok as away allocations will be much larger, after that difficult to call.

I'm hoping weird kick off dates and times due to the new TV deal will help those of us who do as you do. I don't make 8-10 but probably 6-8 a season.
I'm optimistic.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Believe the new TV deal is for the season after 23/24.

I reckon they will sell a lot of ultimate and gold memberships this season so away tickets will likely be hard to get for the more popular games.

Unless they change the membership benefits or cap the numbers it might not be possible to get tickets for some home games either unless you're a ST holder. For the last few years ultimate members have been able to buy four additional home tickets. No idea how many of those they sell but for the likes of Norwich and the relegated Prem sides I think we could see home tickets not making general sale.

I’d like to see an away passport sold equally to all memberships.

I’m a silver club member living 100 or so miles from Ipswich. Because of distance, work and family commitments, I can’t get to all the home matches to make a season ticket financially viable.

But I do a lot of away games with my boys (Barnsley and Bristol Rovers from Sussex on a Tuesday night was a fair old way) and in the past I’ve been to the likes of Swansea, Newcastle, Yeovil etc so my commitment is not in question.

Last season I struggled to get away tickets and while I understand the reasoning behind rewarding the season ticket holders, I do think the Gold Card system doesn’t benefit those loyal fans exiled from Ipswich.

Hopefully next season’s allocations will help and clearly I want the club to be well supported and flying high.

But having followed Ipswich since 1980 and gone home and away since 1988, it’s a little frustrating to miss out to people who will probably vanish once the inevitable circle of success takes a downturn.

I don’t wish to sound out of order, as not what I’m aiming for, but it’s not really the clubs fault where people have chosen to live.
And therefore if you’re a season ticket holder and make that yearly commitment, really should be higher in priority for away games too.

I tend to agree, you could decouple memberships from season tickets. Something like

Home
Season ticket
Home membership
Home general sale

Away
Away membership, with priority for in demand games based on number of previous games
Away general sale

Incidentally, whereabouts in Sussex? I am just over the border in Surrey.

Agree.

Maybe they could do 10% of away tickets in a ballot or something but ST holders should get the main benefit. Although saying that, it would reduce the number of ultimate memberships they can sell and if we're maximising revenue it's a difficult one.

Why not look for a season ticket share or such like in future seasons (or for next season if any come back on sale which I imagine they will at some point as there will be a few non renewals even if it’s not many)

Plenty of town fans live the kind of distance you are away but invest in a season ticket even though they can’t make each game. They may share around a family or group of people or donate / sell the ticket when they can’t make it.

I’m a fan with a season ticket who can’t make every game but I never let my seat go empty. Feel free to PM me if you’re interested in potentially taking in a few games I may not be able to make next season.

Don’t disagree with you J2 or TextBackUp.

I’ve always lived in Sussex and supported Ipswich. That’s my call.

And I agree that season ticket holders should be rewarded for their loyalty and investment.

It’s just the Gold Card I have a little issue with as I think it was flawed this season.

A lot of people bought Gold Cards for a handful of away games like Cambridge and then the rest of the time they were passed around to others needing priority for a ticket. I don’t begrudge those using that loophole, we all wanted to see games.

But it’s going to be the same next season when we go to clubs in London and the surrounding areas or those with limited allocations. Because of that it’s very hit and miss whether it will ever get to Silver Club.

The irony is I have always qualified for Norwich away tickets but I’ve got no hope of going there or somewhere like Loftus Road next season.

And I would actually pay more for my Silver membership if I could bolt on an away passport like the Gold Card.

As I say I’ve witnessed plenty of ups and downs with Ipswich to know this level of interest won’t last for ever but when your team is finally doing well, you can see why I’m a little frustrated at not being able to watch them.

Personally (and maybe I'm biased as I can only get tickets on general sale) this 4 tickets for ST holders should be dropped especially now there is 21k ST holders. Not sure why they should be able to buy additional tickets before anyone else....they have theirs haha

I think the membership thing maybe needs a rethink with only about 5-6k of home tickets being able to be sold each game?

Away games you would hope people will have more chance due to a bigger allocation at most grounds!

That’s very kind of you and thank you.
The issue we have is there is me, my two sons and my dad.
So buying season tickets would work out pretty expensive.
But who knows, it may be the only answer going forwards.

A lot bigger allocations for moats away games, should be fine to make that amount easily. Be interesting if the away support does hold up for places like Preston (whole stand, 5,000)

Agree, it's why I keep banging on about it to be honest, in the hope that the club will realise, if they haven't already, that 4 additional tickets is excessive.

Depends what membership option you have. If ultimate, then ticket guaranteed for every game, Gold - should be ok as away allocations will be much larger, after that difficult to call.

I suspect gold will be good for most. I think the system worked well this year with some exceptions (Cambridge mainly). It possibly would be good if they put a time limit on when people could buy them. Personally I think rewarding season ticket holders is right as they commit financially to the club and subsequent rewarding is in my view appropriate. Appreciate others will have a different view, but I'm sure a good system will be put in place.

I'm in a similar position, little bit disappointed when Fleetwood came around as had been to 10+ away games, understood Gold members with 10+ away games getting in the queue first but then 2nd sales phase was Gold members who hadn't reached 10+ (was 8+ to qualify) so missed out, fully understand can't please everyone in these heady days so perhaps some ideas as mentioned could be considered - maybe a lottery for a small allocation of those who hit the thresholds?
