What’s it like as a place? Really not sure I’ve ever spent any time there.

Nice set of lakes, wide High Street, very mixed housing stock, a few pubs and a couple of chippies (the one off the High Street being the better one.)

Stayed there last season before a game for a few days and a family getaway. It's a nice little spot in Suffolk. Fairly typical I'd say and the lakes are pleasant enough for a stroll.

Y'know, last time I was in Needham, about a month ago, I cannot remember a single pot hole. As well as Needham Lakes (about a quarter of a mile east of the High Street) there used to be another piece of open land with a lake on the other side but that has been developed, lake still there but open land replaced by some housing and a Co-op.

High Street has some mildly interesting antique shops and three or four charity shops so can support an hour or so of aimless rummaging.

Half interested in having a quick look at the Lion which looks like it’s been for sale for a bit.

I think it will take a real effort to rejuvenate the place.

Got a nice Indian a few yards from the train station.

The owner is my next door neighbour.

I think they might do but a buffet will never be as good as a normal sit down.

Actually I forgot to post my review of the Indian on the A12 next to that garden centre place around Copdock way - and it was a year ago to be fair.

Anyhoo, I popped in there with the Mrs. From outside it looked shut and was plastered with posters of an Elvis the Pelvis tribute night.

When we went in after realising it was open it was deserted and although it was empty they wanted to put us on the smallest table in the worse place of the gaff

I ordered a coke and it was warm and flat, in fact I witnessed the bloke pour the remnants of a spacecraft sized bottle into my glass. When I told the bloke it was flat he advised that it was a new bottle but eventually very reluctantly gave me a new one.

Needless to say I wasn’t expecting a great meal.

What followed though was a taste sensation of an almost sexual nature.

It was blooming fantastic!!

Lovely little place. In the countryside but ideally placed for near the A14 and access to to all the facilities in the east, west and north of the region.

Decent place. Needham Lake is lovely. Done several walks round there and up to Stow. Excellent farm shop at Alder Carr. A couple of good pubs and a decent chippy and cafe as well. May have to try the Indian restaurant.

Do trains still stop at Needham on the main line?

Trains do, occacsionally, stop at Needham on their way between Cambridge and Ipswich but, alas, Alder Carr Farm has closed - [edit] ignore that last bit, it has started up again.

Nice little place to be fair. Big ITFC following as you would expect, long had a successful youth and adult football scene in its own right too, relatively speaking.

Would agree the curry house near the station is very decent. Decoratively the back room lacks a bit of character but the food is good.

Quite a quaint high street, few pubs, lovely lake which has a fairly new cafe near it which i've not yet been to. Nice walks both around the lake itself but also within the vicinity and between it and the high street. There's also a cafe at Alder Carr Farm which is nice looking, old timber frame building with the exposed timbers inside etc.

Needham had a reputation for a while of being a bit fighty if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time, especially a Friday or Saturday night. There were a fair few folk you wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of but I expect most of those have got a bit old for all that, and the younger ones are too busy playing Xbox or something nowadays rather than tucking away 10 pints after work and beating people up.

Great stuff, actually thinking about it, I think he has moved to a house round the corner and left who I assume is his mum and sister in the house next to me.

Thinking on, you've reminded me, I must text him to get him to cut his fecking hedge.
