That was a long way to come down for such a nervy night with both my lads . Expected so much that night and credit where credit is due , Vale played to a game plan and didn't budge from it . It nearly worked for them
The "handball, handball, handball" moment was quality and with Morsy acting ref !!!
Thankfully Nathan made the drive back to Sheffield so much more bearable !

Handball! HANDBALL!!!!! HAND-F***ING-BALL!!!!!!!!
The fact it took the third handball to get the pen was a joke haha. I dread to think what would’ve happened to that ref had he not given that last one.

Of all those games in the run in this felt as big as any. The expectation was that we would roll them over but they were stubborn, and when that goal went in on the stroke of h/t it felt like a bit of a mountain to climb against a side that would inevitably try and kill any momentum in the 2nd half and keep the ball live for as little time as possible. That 1st by Broadhead came at a great time, any longer and I felt it was going to slip away. Absolutely massive 3 points that was.
On a night where Plymouth came from behind to win at Shrewsbury and Sheff Weds won at Bristol Rovers too. This kept us a point above with a game in hand, 4 to play and a better GD. Knowing that 8 points from the final 4 would be enough, regardless of what Wednesday did felt like we were on the home straight.

that was the hardest game of the run in on the pitch.
Was a real struggle that night but we got it over the line.

Portman Road always has the potential to be special on night games, this one definitely fit the bill.
I expected a tough match after the reverse fixture but being behind at the break was a surprise. WIth Peterborough and Barnsley away coming up it felt vital to get the 3 points and what a relief when that penalty went in. If you was walking along Portman Road in the seconds before the pen was taken, you wouldn't even think there was a game on with how quiet it was.
A special game in the season because it posed us the kind of question we hadn't really had to deal with for a long time, and we just about answered it without playing very well. The epitome of "those games get you promoted".
Had to watch this in Lanzarote in a Sheff United pub on my Ipad and went mad when we scored the first. When we got the penalty i could hear a woman who i assumed supported Sheffield Wednesday going miss miss miss and went mental when we scored F off Sheffield Wednesday

It's the fact that Chaplin completely stops playing after the second handball shout as it was SO obvious.
Arriving at FPR and hearing the Love Affair song just seemed to make the evening atmosphere of a night game crank up a few notches "Bringing on back the good times, taking away the pain" Felt like we had a club that was listening. This song had been suggested as a terrace chant only a few weeks earlier. Now over the jet lag having flown in from Australia for the Charlton game, I was ready to watch the 2 or 3 nil thumping of Port Vale that was fully expected by most... They played well, really well, but the toe-end volley on 45 minutes was still a difficult pill to swallow. Half time in the North stand bar, nerves were frayed, but belief was still apparent. In the second half, Nathan Broadhead showed why we had persisted to secure his signature... an outstanding second half saw him grab a brace, the first was a neat finish... the second (a penalty) took balls of steel. What a fabulous result... I celebrated enthusiastically at the Black Horse after the game and just about made the last train home... No jet lag excuses now, Peterborough next on the Agenda... what an adventure so far, Up the Town!
