Camara.. on 15:08 - Jul 11 by chicoazul | I don’t even like ketchup but why would you put cold sauce on hot foods. |
For the same reasons you sometimes put hot sauces on cold foods, warm on warm, hot on hot, cold on cold etc. Basically anyone who isn't a child or a fusspot or both.

That statement is undeniably true. But the results in question are the Kraft family financial results and its nothing to do with the product itself. There is zero need for ketchup to be in the fridge.

Fine for a few days, a week or two, or however long really on 14:40 - Jul 11 by Dyland | It's not gonna kill anyone innit, but they stopped putting preservatives (yeh yeh, not including salt and what have you) in loike what, twenty years ago? It spoils so open ketchup is best stored in the fridge, the end. Unless you only have a tiny fridge and need to keep beer and wine cold and there's literally no room for the ketchup. That's the only sound reason to put it in the fackin cupboard. |
Ketchup predates the fridge (and industrial preservatives) by more than a century and has vinegar, sugar and salt in it precisely to give it a long life span. Like most Victorian sauces/jams, long shelf life at room temperature is the whole bloody point of the thing! [Post edited 11 Jul 2023 15:50]

Well nothing at all. I'm talking about a hypothetical scenario where a household only has one little fridge. Innit.

Then you go an completely let yerself and everyone around you down with 2 of the craziest statements ever made on here. No sane human should put fruit on a pizza and I'm far from convinced that banana in a curry is any less insane |
Point of order. Tomatoes and Olives are fruits, hence olive oil is therefore squeezed fruit. Pizza is basically fruits on bread, with a couple of savoury things thrown on top.

Well sure... and it took the numpties an age to realise that people could use their fridges and therefore the industrial preservatives could/should be removed. And yes, I alluded to the vinegar, but it's not a pickled product ffs. So I stand by the fact you can leave it in the cupboard for pretty much as long as you like without it killing you, but it will spoil. So for best results and taste, put it in the fridge (unless as previously hypothesised, you need all your fridge space for wine and beer and yes yes Qlders, cider too). Ffs.

This is also the same argument that goes for eggs too. Eggs can be stored just fine outside a fridge but there's less chance of salmonella if stored in the fridge.

So, in summary, perfectly safe to keep outside the fridge, matter of personal taste whether you prefer to consume it at room temperature or want to use your fridge for other things.

Feck me, that's some potentially life changing information. May have to take some time to digest it. Gonna sleep on it overnight an get back to yer in the morning. Can I add that I have always found pizza to be the most overrated of foodstuffs

You're as good as never going to get salmonella off a (raw) egg if it's got the British Lion stamp, and most eggs you'll buy in the supermarket or corner shop or whatever will have the stamp.

Exactly, mash um, chip um, roast um, form them into beautiful croquettes. That's before yer get into yer gratins an boxtys etc. I'm gonna extend my pizza comment to Italian food in general. Overrated tomato an pasta nonsense
Camara.. on 11:16 - Jul 12 with 1570 views | catch74 | From my very good Pompey source, only if town pay a really decent amount of his wages. Think Pigott was on £4.5k last year and we helped them out with that, his wages apparently doubled on promotion, so no chance he’s going back (faint chance, of course, if we settle his contact, which is def on the cards.)

I'd love to join this debate, but I put vinegar in the fridge* so I'm not sure my opinion will be valued. Well, I was going to say, I tried an organic tomato sauce the other day which had no vinegar listed in its ingredients and says should be refrigerated and consumed within 30 days. * I do this mainly for convenience. I have all my salad and sauces stuff all in one place. I have a massive fridge, largely empty, and limited storage space elsewhere.

Oh dear Gavvers. Er, get a load of condiments and juices and booze?! I must say, I don't want a fridge cold salad dressing (one with wine/sherry vinegar and oil) on my lettuce or what have you. But not bothered about fridge cold malt vinegar on hot chips, in fact they'd cool them quicker to be easier to eat :)
