Weather forcast is terrible, i don't live that far away, and it's bucketing down.

Think there is a chance we get some play, but gling of yesterday not sure we'd get the wickets.

According to this rain radar...
https://www.theweatheroutlook.com/twodata/uk-rainfall-radar.aspx
...there's a massive dragon's head of rain reaching across from Norn Iren to Sheffield (furthest south), and cunningly just north of Mun-chess-tah.

Very slow moving and edging away west and slightly north, so hopefully...

However it does look like the western bit of it might rotate south so maybe not...

Headingley is England's second most winning Test ground (after Edgbaston, which you probably think is "oop North" anyway) -

hehe!! Edgbaston is defo Northern!!

and my mum was actually a Geordie, her family moved to Southport where they still live and Ive had many a happy holiday there. Ive also family in Doncaster.

The up north thing is something of a family joke and I was brought up bi-lingual speaking both proper and northern

(not helped by eldest daughter marrying a Manchester lad so I have grandson who baff, rather than barth and think you play football on graz, rather than grassss)

A well-deserved long lunch for all to allow the rain to regather, this is how battles are won! Keno's northern complaint has also been received by TMS and Tuffers gives his approval.

Heard on the radio they were definitely starting at 1pm when I parked up.

So in the time it took me to open my front door, sit down and put radio back on, it's gone tits up again.

Lady Lucan has just decided to have a nap on the sofa, this coincided with me seeing that there is a chance of play at 13.00.........

.........So I switched it from her brain dead program about fat people in America to cricket and she yelled "I can't sleep with this sh1t on"

Unbelievable Jeff.

My old man always did similar. He'd fall asleep watching some crap and the teenage me would change the channel only for him to wake with a start and say 'Oi, I was watching that!'

Yeah, I used to get that - but the future ex wife has taken it to a new level.

thank you brethren and sistren for your updates...as promised after being woken by the full bladder the first thing I did was check this thread and then I pissed myself..oh the joys of ageing.

Not looking at all promising is the shake up here.

Andy Burnham and his acolytes should keep quiet about the next Ashes at least for a day or 2 out of respect for our frustration if they have any heart .... although off the record, they really should have at least one ooop North

Absolutely we should ... bloody Cricket, although I still love that it's a sport that takes into account so many things like the weather in planning and tactics..maybe cycling is one other... when now or in the future that has gone from many sports...or life.

stolen from cricinfo:

an abandonment in Manchester would, I think, mean it draws level with the SCG for most completely washed-out days of Test cricket in history (with 25)

I am surprised that OT hadn't got that competition sewn up.

Series decided by a combination of rain, a stupid early declaration, and bad sportmsanship by Alex Carey.

and poor bowling on the last day of the first test, that and holding catches would have justified the declaration

and Gainsborough jinxing it by watching TV
