How good were we last night? 08:43 - Oct 4 with 2195 viewsWallingford_Boy

Statistically, a very even game.

Was it just the finishing?
Calmness on the ball?
Work ethic off the ball?

All of the above, plus more?

RIP Sir Bobby

We completely outplayed them regardless of what the stats said.

Completely outplayed them. They had lots of possession on the hallway line, and a handful of speculative shots on the last 10 minutes.

About as good a 45 as you'll likely see.

Hull really didn't know what to do.

We were unbelievable last night.

The way we were winning ball back so quickly was a joy to watch.

Yes definitely a case where the statistics bear no relation to the game. They never looked like ever scoring, even in the last 10 minutes where we eased off a bit.

Thanks for the input. I live 120 miles away and coach two youth football teams, so don’t have so much spare time.

Was just after some insight into how well we played, that’s all.

Most of their shots and corners came towards the end with the game set and match.

What even the xG stats don't show is that we were ahead in that game for 90+ minutes which demonstrates its own kind of dominance.

They looked really sharp in their passing and movement to begin with but just weren't able to sustain that.

There was quite a lot of insight already posted on the forum and in the post match interviews with McKenna, Morsy, and Rosenior.

Absolutely destroyed them, then eased off and saw the game out. The stats don’t tell you a lot. First half was probably as good and one sided as I’ve seen from us in a long, long time.

Damned lies and statistics. Hull had 2 shots when we were 1-0 up, then one further shot before we made it 3-0.

They had 10 further shots at goal when were already 3-0 up, 7 of them after the 80th minute. Basically, we took our foot off the gas late on and they had a few pot shots.

All you'd need to do is listen to the Hull fans... they'd tell you how many times they'd 'got the ball' and how often they'd 'lost the ball'... I think the 'lost' far outnumbered the 'gots'
