My post wasn't specifically about.... on 17:39 - Oct 23 by Ewan_Oozami
Not wanting to inflame the debate here, but would it need to be a foreign key if there is no sorting or lookups done using that value, might it just be a plain int32 (+1 or -1) whose values are summed for a particular user?
Obviously can't use plain int as some users may well go beyond +32,768 or -32,767 and cause integer overflows ;-)
You'd presumably need an uppies table with a foreign key to the post though, to enable the 'one up/one down' limit feature, would you not? Thence an FK to the user. I dunno, I'm rusty.
The data gives a clear picture of the scale of the atrocities at the Supernova music festival in Reim where 364 people were killed. But it also invalidates some statements by Israeli authorities in the days following the attack. In particular, a claim made on October 10 on the government's official X (formerly Twitter) account spoke of "40 babies murdered" at Kfar Aza kibbutz, based on a report by i24NEWS channel. Questioned by AFP the following day, Israel's foreign ministry, which runs the X account, said it could not "confirm any number at this stage". According to Bituah Leumi, 46 civilians were killed in Kfar Aza, the youngest 14 years old. Another testimony called into question was that on October 27 by Colonel Golan Vach, head of the army's search and rescue unit, who told a group of journalists, including one from AFP, that he "personally" transported "a decapitated baby" found in the arms of his mother in the Beeri kibbutz. According to Bituah Leumi, only one baby was killed in Beeri: the 10-month-old Mila Cohen, whose mother survived. Army spokespersons did not respond to queries by AFP.
And... I am still trying to fact check that most horrendous claim of all that GB linked regarding the pregnant woman and foetus. So far all I can find is that the incident occurred in Mexico but I am still looking for something definitive and verifiable. Anybody?

What are you trying to achieve here. Provably 1,100 people were murdered, many raped and mutilated in the cruelest acts of violence. Quibbling over a few specific claims made in a chaotic and traumatic time just comes across ghoulish and irrelevant given the scale of the crimes.
Then you’ll complain that people question your motives.

I am trying to clarify what the reality was in a narrative that sought to thoroughly dehumanise a group of people and has led to circa 100,000 deaths and injuries. I think that is important but maybe you don't.

It's the sort of narrative that leads to this...

But there were plenty of provably inhuman acts against the victims of the Hamas attacks, so you’ve not clarified anything. So given the overall scale and brutality of 7th Oct I don’t see the importance of it. Rape and mutilation is not a ‘narrative’ it’s a fact.
It was the biggest massacre of Jews since the holocaust, and a few dubious claims on social media don’t detract from that.

It's pretty obvious from various threads that he is more motivated to go for a gotcha moment than what is actually going on in the area. He's repeating the same posts on different threads.
Let's not forget that this is the poster who after reading the following testimony from a traumatised you woman, didn't recoil in horror at the rape and mutilation that she described, but instead registered his objection to the young lady calling the rapists "Palestinians".
"The first victim she said she saw was a young woman with copper-color hair, blood running down her back, pants pushed down to her knees. One man pulled her by the hair and made her bend over. Another penetrated her, Sapir said, and every time she flinched, he plunged a knife into her back.
She said she then watched another woman “shredded into pieces.” While one terrorist raped her, she said, another pulled out a box cutter and sliced off her breast.
“One continues to rape her, and the other throws her breast to someone else, and they play with it, throw it, and it falls on the road,” Sapir said.
She said the men sliced her face and then the woman fell out of view. Around the same time, she said, she saw three other women raped and terrorists carrying the severed heads of three more women.
Sapir provided photographs of her hiding place and her wounds, and police officials have stood by her testimony and released a video of her, with her face blurred, recounting some of what she saw.
I think he needs to walk away from his laptop to be honest. I've taken the decision to ignore him and not reply to his posts without actually putting him on ignore.

Not looking for gotchas but if you want to clarify that you spread a lot of made up stuff to add to the general mood of dealing with a population of subhumans that would be good. You had a much more graphic example before this one....do you stand by it?
I can understand you walking away after publishing PM's and then being shown to have fabricated reality about your claims in the West Bank. It is what you do when you are repeatedly found to invent things.

Without wishing to get involved in the inter-personal stuff here, it's surely right (or at least not wrong) to clarify and correct earlier erroneous posts. Bankster did start his post with 'The data gives a clear picture of the scale of the atrocities...' after all.
Given however many tens of thousands of deaths, injuries and destroyed lives have resulted from the initial atrocity (even if you consider that some kind of ground zero), it is surely morally incumbent upon the side with the overwhelming power and ongoing control of the destruction to be perfectly clear and honest about the timeline of events?

Personally I wouldn’t post links from social media anyway - it’s a hive of misinformation (for that reason I don’t even use it). There are many acts that are at least as horrific as those which ave been disproven, so I don’t see it as changing any ‘narrative’.
Too many people see this conflict as an ‘either or’. It’s perfectly easy to be appalled at the events of 7/10, and the subsequent actions of Israel. I’m not sure why you’d expect the Israeli authorities to be ‘clear and honest’ given they’ve show at best a complete disregard for civilians, at worst seen them as legitimate targets.

Social media? I don't follow that reference. The France24 article refers to 'social security data', or have I missed something earlier in the thread?
No, you're right I wouldn't expect the Israeli authorities or really any other state or military/political group to be clear and honest when there's perceived propaganda value in not being so, what I was trying (badly) to say, is that the case for the current destruction of Gaza and its people needs to be made transparent and corrected wherever (and by whoever) such can be done if it is to bear scrutiny and be judged fairly in the eyes of the world.
I am trying to clarify what the reality was in a narrative that sought to thoroughly dehumanise a group of people and has led to circa 100,000 deaths and injuries. I think that is important but maybe you don't.
I don't see you hurrying to correct the claims that Israel bombed the Al-Alhi hospital - which turned out to be an errant Hamas rocket.
One could almost think you have some kind of agenda.

A simple uppie/downie thread... by NeedhamChris7 Jan 2024 7:32 You can't hide it can you. Why not just say it - Glasgow blue I'm desperate for your attention and I really want you to engage with me on this, please GB, please...
Alternatively, some might think that your attempt to present a vastly complex and long running dispute as a 'straightforward proposition' is a bit ridiculous and therefore not worth responding to.
You cannot reduce the geopolitical realities of conflict to simple yes no questions.
I used to out with a girl years ago who was a bit crackers. Like Duck Face from Four Weddings and a Funeral. I dumped her for somebody else and she started bombarding me with letters and turning up at the pub wanting attention. One night, when I was walking the new girl home she tried to run me over.
I don't know why this has suddenly come into my mind after reading Banksy's series of posts.

You really need to address your ego problem.
"They break our legs and tell us to be grateful when they offer us crutches."
I don’t think you have time to be replying to posts, haven’t you work to do?
“ I am still trying to fact check that most horrendous claim of all that GB linked regarding the pregnant woman and foetus.”
Come on man, get on with it, maybe Hamas only raped and killed people, and are unjustly being categorised as bad people, the world is waiting on your journalistic endeavours.

Oh here he is look, the compassionate vegan...I mean what does claims of 40 beheaded babies matter in the scheme of things. No need to fact check the daily slaughter of innocent Gazans though is there as it's done in plain sight. I wonder what the ratio of innocents/combatants works out at in Gazan deaths....oh well who cares when it's your side doing the killing and a new vegan beach holiday destination awaits.
Edit... "....maybe Hamas only raped and killed people, and are unjustly being categorised as bad people..." Said no-one ever!

You'd have a point if I was starting thread after thread in an attempt at a gotcha moment at his expense or mentioning him on every fcuking thread I was posting on or resurrecting three month old threads of his. I'm more than happy not to acknowledge his existence on here. Unfortunately, this is not reciprocated.
It wasn't so long ago that you were calling him out over his lack of consistency on which Muslim victims of atrocities he was condemning and which he was conveniently ignoring

"....gotcha moment...." there you go again with that ego of yours. Or is it just your way of admitting that you ran and ran with made up stuff? I do appreciate that you would want to ignore me though when I keep exposing your agendas, it is so much easier to focus on what someone has said rather than what they haven't!
"They break our legs and tell us to be grateful when they offer us crutches."
I think the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs has come up with the phrase which most resonates with me about this ongoing situation, as the world watches on:
From Sky News:
'... But in a briefing to the UN Security Council, Martin Griffiths said he was "deeply alarmed" over the suggested "plans to encourage the mass transfer" of civilians from Gaza to third countries.
Mr Griffiths also renewed calls for a ceasefire, saying the suffering in Gaza risked leaving "an indelible mark on our humanity".'

“..your side”
You need to improve your English comprehension.
When did I say I supported what is happening?
I asked that of someone before, and they couldn’t find a quote that demonstrated that. Maybe you can include that in your research.
Can you also explain why you keep referring beach holidays in posts to me?

Some people simply lack the ability to understand that one can believe Hamas need to be eradicated for the security of Israel and the future wellbeing of ordinary Palestinian people, whilst strongly disagreeing with the way Israel are going about doing so.
To some people life is simply black or white.
As for the vegan beach holidays? The numerous times he’s mentioned it leads me to believe he has insecurity issues with both vegans and people who take beach holidays.
