Anti-Jewish anger is at boiling point 10:56 - Oct 30 with 16625 views | blueasfook | Shocking scenes from Dagestan - a mainly Muslim Russian republic. Airport stormed and ransacked looking for Jews. God knows what they would have done to any Jews they might have found. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-67258332 EDIT - I see GB already posted about it below! [Post edited 30 Oct 2023 11:00]

Is it not the celebration of the day a Turkish born Roman soldier slayed a mythical dragon? Obviously a proud day for English men everywhere

My entire street is full of stars and stripes on porch's in a heavily democrat area, not sure they are trying to "bait" anyone. The English (especially those with certainly political persuasion) are so weird how they associate any form of patriotism, at least when it comes to their own country. |
Americans gun each other down in huge numbers, because of some ammendment. I don't know why they're all so 'patriotic'.

He was born in Lod, which is in Israel. When St George was believed to have been born, the province was called Syria Palaestina. Syria Palaestina was a name given to the region of Judaea, in the Kingdom ofJudah, by the Romans after they defeated the last of the Jewish rebellions against Rome. The Emperor Hadrian chose the name in order to crush the national and religious spirit of the Jews.

Not every serviceman is a flag waving patriot you know. Just like not every police officer is beyond criminality or every teacher loves kids.

Why should any serviceman be a 'flag waving patriot'? I know many of them are but the majority who have experienced real war, are not.

As an Englishman, I’m more proud that the Irish adopted an English born saint and built a multi billion dollar industry out of him. Never have so many pints of Guinness been sunk in honour of an Englishman other than Jack Charlton.

An exhaustive Wiki search suggests he was born in Cappadocia, Anatolia ( modern day Turkey). Not sure how accurate that is. Though I'm also far from convinced he really slayed a dragon

It is not certain where he was born, but what is now Cumbria, and Kilpatrick, near Dumbarton, have been put forward as possible locations. https://www.irishcentral.com/roots/history/saint-patrick-born-scotland Both locations were in Welsh-speaking areas at the time of his birth, and he was born around the time that Anglo-Saxon migration to Britain was only just beginning in the south east, so it is stretching it a bit to regard him as an Englishman. Romano-British would be a better description. Interestingly, the oldest Welsh literature does not belong to the territory we know as Wales today, but rather to northern England and southern Scotland (collectively Yr Hen Ogledd or the Old North). And Welsh (or Cumbric) was spoken in south west Scotland until the 11th Century. [Post edited 31 Oct 2023 10:41]
