Thought he showed promise and grew into the roll after a dodgy start. He was responsible for gifting the ball to Rotherham with an over hit pass and could have done more when it came bs k into our area.

Interesting that KMc said he had for sometime intended he would play against Rotherham, he needed the minutes as he will be a key player later in the season but it goes against the one game at a time principle. With hindsight it might have been better if he had come on at half time, hopefully with the three points already comfortably secure.

Elsewhere unfortunate that several other players were a little below par and we still haven’t been awarded a penalty. Our style of play is such that you would expect us to be close to the top of a table showing penalties awarded. Sunderland have had 4 several teams 3. Think we need players to take the bill into the area more than we do. We probably have more free kicks just outside the area than most other teams.

A win on Saturday is more important now going into international without a win in three league games wouldn’t be ideal.

I don’t think Tuanzebe will play on Saturday as it’s too much too soon, but it does make me wonder whether we could use more of a back three/wing back system whilst Burns and Broadhead are missing.

Hladky
Woolfenden - Tuanzebe - Burgess
Williams - Morsy - Luongo - Davis
Chaplin - Scarlett/Taylor
Hirst

Though hopefully we won’t be missing our starting wingers for much longer so perhaps it’s a moot point.

Interesting point this, but I wonder whether Wolfie plays the hybrid role where he nips into that deep lying central midfield position, like Stones at City.

Could also be a way of covering midfield if Morsy/Mass are out or need a rest.

Mmmmm maybe even a cheese and ham roll with some mustard.

The OP fleetingly gave me mind pictures of Axel sprouting extra limbs and being shoved between two halves of a bun like a bit of live salad!

You raise an interesting point and he could certainly do that role. Got to think Wolfie is the starter going forward and it would be likely Burgess is the 3rd.

Strange to think that CB was on the shopping list this summer but we look very strong there now.

Wolfie has been our best and most consistent outfield player this season. He has to play! Tuanzebe was excellent last night and looks a real solid option. Nice problems to have for KMC.

Agreed, but it also looks like Tuanzebe could be even better once he gets settled (and you'd kind of expect he would be given his background).

It's a great 'problem' to have.

I wonder if Baggott might be lined up for a loan move in January now we have four senior centre backs and the likes of Ball as cover.

I think getting him a loan will be tricky as he'll be away for 5 weeks in January with Indonesia in ASIACON. That's quite a hard sell for the club he might go to that he wouldn't be available until early/mid Feb.

Another minor observation about Tuanzebe. Having just watched the highlights I noticed he flung his arm up in frustration at the final whistle - a small thing but good to see he cared about the result.

I think any defender whose team concedes an injury time goal is going to be a bit miffed, but yeah, good to see anyway.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

He's also developed so well here by the look of things while not getting massive competitive minutes. It might be that he's the sort of player who develops best in a top-notch 'classroom' rather than a non-ideal 'work placement'.
