He may well be the first non-MP to hold one of the Great Offices of State since Lord Carrington.

How would you define modern right-wing economics, if not maximal deregulation, minimal taxation and reduction of the state by all means?

I would reply there is nothing right wing about the largest tax burden of modern times, an enormous and growing public sector & civil service, and titanic debt and debt repayments.

You don't need to state both of those, one is sufficient to sum it up.

Still waiting for a definition from Chico of what a right wing economic position is though, rather than a statement of what it is not.

His policy was to cut taxes on the rich and big corporations so the money would trickle down and all would benefit. There was a tiny flaw in the plan, as Captian Blackadder once said, "It was Bo****ks".

Apart from the reference to a failure to stand up the EU, I would agree with this WhatsApp comment from someone on the right of the Tory party.

A better question would be in what possible way on gods earth is David Cameron of all people “right wing”?

It's my impression of what right wingers do, and as we are dealing with a subjective description then you have the 'how', of course you could always attempt an objective definition...

If we're purely talking economics, where you sit on the right-left scale indicates how much you think the government should intervene in the economy and peoples lives in general.

High level of state involvement = lefty
Minimal = righty

Strangely some people seem to use it as shorthand for evil Vs compassionate. But this is nonsense.

Re your last point, you’re right of course. People love to simplify complex problems. It’s a common affliction of the stupid.
