For me, the ideal scenario is that both teams somehow both lose

Australia are Australia and Indian fans will be irrepressible across all social media outlets if they pull off the perfect tournament, with a clean sweep

There's already allegations on pitch doctoring and a suggestion the final will be played on a used wicket, quite incredibly after the semi final controversy

if it was in Australia, theyd be playing on a glued drop in pitch, so lets drop the "doctored" pitches conspiracies favours anyone, and like England didnt ask Lords to prepare a fast seamers paradise wicket for the final back in 2019.

its the same surface for both teams its how you use it that matters.

and no I cant bring myself to support a team who play in yellow & green...and they would be far more insufferable than India if they won too. India have been the best team of this stupidly elongated tournament they deserve to win, though sport rarely works out that way.

I don't get the pitch thing, I thought the point was in these tournaments the ICC were meant to take over control of pitch preparations, I remember in 2019 some of England's struggles in the group stage were that they had spent the last 2 years preparing flat batting pitches for all ODI games in England, and then in the tournament there was more in the pitches for the bowlers than they had been used to. I understand that in India there are always going to be characteristics of their pitches that will come through, and naturally Indian and sub-continental players will be better suited to play on them, but unless I've missed something it just seems to have been accepted in this tournament that India will get the pitch prepared in the way that they want it?

If they can get Kohli cheap now, they have half a chance. India 81-3.

Kohli gone.

The silence and look on the faces of the India fans is such a delight when that happens.

Dont understand thhis sentiment.

The Aussies will be unbearable, and clearly dont deserve to win the tournament. Their team is very ordinary and boring for limtied overs.

Sorry to change the subject slightly, but we have an Afghan refugee (now Norwegian citizen) working with us. I did a hospital transfer with him last week and the excitement in his voice while he talked about the cricket was very humbling. He told me in great detail about how all the nations were playing and of how proud he was of his own country being there. I'm no cricket fan so he was probably a little disappointed with the interaction.

Agreed. It's a fairly easy choice on who to support whenever Kohli is playing - one of the most punchable people on the planet.

5 down. Advantage Aus. Having seen teams chase this World Cup, I would say this game is far from done.

I've got a few Indian friends, and regularly come into contact with visiting Aussies through work so on balance would prefer India to win this I think.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

That pitch looks worse than the bit of my lawn where the squirrel has been burying his walnuts! Have they done what you said and used an old wicket?

I have three Indian colleagues on my team at work. They will be insufferable if India win.

I therefore hope they do win, as I love seeing my work friends happy!

Never know do you?

However it plays out and despite the fact that Cummins and Starc will rightly get plaudits for the wicket taking, I think that's been an excellent bowling performance from Zampa.

Have they turned the volume down on the crowd? An Australian win would definitely be preferable.

It's enough runs to be defendable (230/9 at the moment), might be another low scoring thriller of a final.

Volume is up now. Bumrah and Shami have their tails up but sometimes swinging it too much. Either they bowl them out or Aus get them in wides.

Smith goes LBW for four. India might be favourites now with this crowd. 47/3.

If England asked for that, they didn't get it did they?

They got a green top which favoured New Zealand

Edit: The ICC are in charge of the pitches to try and stop home advantage, it does seem that the BCCI have managed to circumvent that, somehow

And is it really needed, given how good India have been all tournament?
