Yes. If that’s the recent record from the Ebro it was in fact 257lbs!
These bloated EU bullies were introduced into the waterway by German fishermen a few decades ago and have grown so big that they have featured on Jeremy Wade’s hysterical fishing show River Monsters.
Nobody knows quite how big they can grow in such a massive warm water waterway where they don’t really belong - but 350lb fish may already exist. Some obsessive arz already feeding up known holding areas to bloat them still further. Same craze is going on in carp fishing - where you can watch a pot-bellied 100lb carp in certain waters now.

You're right in what you're saying. These overgrown monsters are mostly caught in fisheries where their natural food is heavily supplemented with pellet and other HNV foods. I used to go to a carp lake in France where over the space of about 10 years, the fish went from an average weight of around 35lb to 60/70lb lumps, purely due to the lake owners feeding them with tonnes of pellet and boilie.

Catfish so greedy not difficult to hook. Reeling them in must be like dragging a sleeping bag full of cement! Prefer catching a 4lb Chub from a small river!🎣

Even more bizarrely the big fish in commercial fisheries now have names as they are yo-yoed in and out of the water so often.
In a generation carp fishing has gone from ‘fishing for the unknown. ‘ to fishing for the known’.
If you still carp fish in France you should try the Lot or Garonne rivers. The fish are essentially wild and look as though they haven’t been caught before. And any catfish you catch by mistake are likely to be under 100lb.

Not fished in France for about 2/3 years. The owners sold the lake i used to go to so not been bothered to do some research and find a new one to go to. I would like to try somewhere less commercial yes rather than pulling out fish that have been on the bank many times. Thanks for the tip.
