Leeds ‘lower away end’ now allocated to home sale 21:35 - Dec 13 with 5340 viewsElderGrizzly

Ignore the amount he says we’ve sold, but the seat map checks out so 2,000 is our limit

Sorry but I’m confused. So those tickets were never made available to Ipswich fans? Or did the club return them or did Leeds simply not want to have more away fans for that match?

So that tweet is rubbish and more tickets will be made available to ITFC?

And clearly not got them, otherwise they wouldn't be on sale.

Likely we didn't want to take the risk of a load of unsold tickets at 47 a pop which the club would have had to pay for, so Leeds are selling the tickets to their own instead to guarantee a sell out.

Assume it went like this…

Leeds gave us 2,000 and said we could maybe have more if needed.

We sold the 2,000 out.

By the time we did that and ask for more Leeds decided to sell those ones to the home fans realising that we could’ve ended up having 3,000 fans backing us.

Not sure if that’s allowed or what, especially as that now means there’s Leeds fans right in front of ITFC fans.

Can’t imagine Ashton will be happy or taking it lightly.

The thread seems to be saying we needed to take all 1,500 or none.

Assume we took none, hence now on sale to home fans.

Assume it’s as simple as Ashton didn’t want to be on the hook for £70k if we didn’t sell them all, if it was sale and no return

Which from the Leeds perspective, given they'll sell those easily anything but sale and no return would have been poor business sense.

Never made it to Ipswich. Not surprised, they wont want us having an advantage and will be able to sell to home fans

On the flip side, if we score a couple of goals their own fans could turn on them and it could become toxic there, we have done it before and it has worked in our favour, to the point they left the stands to charge us in the away end when they were relegated to League One.

They will however be diving everywhere, trying to get our players booked and sent off, playing for time and generally trying to work the referee and linesmen to their advantage. It's going to be a tough game as we usually don't get those decisions, as shown against Watford and Coventry recently.

Does the 2000 hit the minimum proportion they have to make available or are Leeds taking a hit on a fine for failing to in order to keep the away numbers down (having already gone for high prices in that attempt)?

Is there a minimum...or is it a myth.... wouldn't blame the club at all if next time they come to Town we just give em V1 and tell em to lump it.... probably get shot down with we can't, not allowed, etc etc but be nice to see and laugh at

EFL Rules on away fans

34.2.1 Each Club must make provision for at least 2,000 visiting supporters at every home match or such number as represents 10% of the Club’s certified capacity, if less than 2,000.

They've given us the bare minimum.

Ah, I thought it was 10% rather than a 2000 minimum. So, bigger stadia serve home fans better. If they are going to sell out to home fans, can't blame them for doing so. However, they need to guarantee effective segregation and I would like to think they will charge the £47 they are charging our fans.

I believe it is 10% minimum in the premier league.

Which means if we do get there, we could get lower attendances in the EPL than the EFL if the away team can't sell out (looking at you Bournemouth)

That's where sending them in blocks and holding back ones we can sell if they can't works unless the away club will pay for unsold tickets isn't it? I am sure the current owners will think through how we can be flexible about the segregation.

Surely not. That would mean there are about 7k away fans at Old Trafford, which seems unlikely. I know for cup games, it's 15%.

Do we know how much Leeds are charging their own fans? Surely if it's less than £47, it means we turned down the offer of getting those tickets.
