Gonna be interesting. In his brief appearences. When ever he has ended up on that left side area his left foot pases haven't hit the mark.

Have we ever seen wolfy at LCB?

Wonder if we might see Baggott coming in the natural left fotted cb

Mid to long term I think Baggott will be the natural back up for Burgess. Even when Indonesia played Argentina he didn't look out of his depth and when he's played in the cup games I think he's looked good.

In the shorter term Indonesia may well go out in the group stages but that still only gets him back for 1 or 2 of the league games that Burgess will miss.

I don't think I've seen anything to suggest that he isn't ready now, really. Only seen perhaps three or four games worth from him, but he's impressed me in everything from his strength, composure, positioning etc. I trust KMc to bring him in at the right time, but I wonder whether that time might be sooner than we think?

Sure, it's a risk with a young player, but he looks so confident that I think he'd not be the sort of bloke to go down a negativity spiral if he made a few mistakes, and the upsides of getting him some top quality top of the Championship experience during the rest of this season could be immense next year.

I'd fast-track him, that's my gut feel, and the best time to do that will be when Burgess is away with Australia. Not sure how many games that would be?

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

Depends a bit on whether Australia go further than Indonesia in the competition. It's likely to only be 1 or 2 games and if we beat Wimbledon then one of those will be the FA Cup 4th Round tie. When both Baggott and Burgess are available I still think Burgess stays ahead of Baggott for the foreseeable. Hopefully we'll have a run in the FA Cup which will give him a few games.

I might be wrong but I'm sure under Lambert in L1, the season we had Garbutt at the club, that Woolfenden played left CB joining attacks with Wilson central and Chambers on the right of the three - something like that. I can't remember who we beat but we won 4-0 or something convincing.

In answer though, yes he has played on the left side but in a three, not a two from memory.

I have a feeling Edmundson will come into the side though and play minutes - but not every game.

Will be interesting to see him partnering George Edmundson at some stage. I assume Edmundson will replace Burgess for the most part.

Axel has hugely impressed me when I've seen him play. Shrewd, confident on the ball, decent pace. I guess we are managing his fitness after past issues, but I think he's be comfortable at a higher level & I'd have no qualms at all about him starting.

Stoke fan I know said he is a very good player - the challenge is keeping him fit, which I guess is why KMcK has been nursing him along and dipping him in and out as we know he'll have a big role to play in January.

Sounds like that's your view Phil. My assumption if Wolf and Axel will swap in and out of right CB, based on opposition and fatigue.

Good on the Fridge for biding his time. And his last first team performance was excellent.

This is what the squad depth is all about.

I'm convinced we'll see Baggot and Axel in the future. And Baggot if not for Asia Cup may have been replacing Burgess. McKenna stated he expects him to get further first team action - I assume in League.

Does Baggot miss Wimbledon away in the cup?

Possibly. Indonesia have started their training camp but it's not clear on exactly when he might join. Their first match isn't until 15th Jan. Indonesia seem likely to struggle in their group with Japan and Iraq (who beat them easily earlier in the year) likely to go through. That might get him back for the Rotherham game (or the FA Cup round that weekend if we go through).

Axel and Baggott in the future - what does that mean did Woolfenden? Dropped or sold?

I think this season has shown that you need serious squad depth. Even more so in the Premier League.

So I do think Axel could become our number 1 right centre-back, but Wolfenden remains a close number 2.

Like Edmundson in the Asia Cup period, or Harness of late, our squad players get a chance.

Think he will do. He's here at the moment as I saw him yesterday.
