Hirst's been heroic for us and I wish he was still leading our line, but I'm also not closed off to the possibility that Stansfield may improve us in some aspects and perhaps even overall.
Stanfield's defensive numbers are superb and his dribbling is a real asset too. Technically better and with a similar or better engine? There's a lot there for McKenna to like. Where Hirst has a clear advantage is in aerial duels.
Interesting, thanks. I've been a bit dubious about the excitement about him. I'd have thought given the position we are in pushing for automatic promotion, we'd be looking for a proven top striker (for this level). Maybe that's not financially realistic though. Stanfield does fit the profile of player KM is normally interested in though, and the more I see the more he seems to have something about him.
Edit - not that I expect he's coming here! Seems like B'ham want to hang on to him, but who knows.
In Small Heath-ese that means, "seen him getting on a choo-choo"!
Given all the social media 'noise' linked to an Insta update yesterday its interesting that EADT or TWTD have said zero today as if they have been told to say nothing.

Phil's probably sleeping off the hospitality he gets at the ITFC press office.

Not sure its up to Birmingham what happens to him. If Fulham wants to take him out of Brum for financial or development reasons they can. We might be able to afford more of his wages and with Hirst out for a while, he can be sure of game time. Our club isn't in a mess either which must be important.

Possible target posts something on instagram
Jay Stansfield is a player who manager Kieran McKenna has eyed for a number of transfer windows - Town initially showed interest in the summer of 2022 - and he is well up the Blues’ list of January potential recruits with adding strikers a priority, even more so since George Hirst suffered a hamstring injury.
A move to the Blues would require the Cottagers to recall Stansfield, who is also said to be interesting Sunderland, from his loan spell at Birmingham where he has scored seven times - including one in the 2-2 draw with Town - since joining them in August.

Just an observation. When there has been noise bubbling around about a target before if there is little in it local journos may make a comment but its been surprisingly silent today.
Could be lots of reasons such as nothing at all has changed.

what would you expect and update on?
Has anything happened that warrants any update from the local press other than a couple of posts on social media that prove nothing or have i missed something?

I hope he's recovered from that before we play Sunderland on Saturday... at least the kickoff has been moved back to accommodate that, rather than being a 3pm kickoff.

Hopefully he is here for a medical, recalled by Fulham just anything. However if you read my last post in full i did say "Could be lots of reasons such as nothing at all has changed." so I am actually open to nothing is happening to report on.
Really can't tell for certain from those posts, but a strange way of saying I'm staying. Think Fulham will recall, but weather that means he is coming here remains to be seen. Fingers crossed. Think he would be great for us.
