It was nothing about 'imposing' signings on the manager, more that what has been spoken about by Ashton previously that it was effectively all hands to the pump with everyone using their contacts to try and get deals done that there was a relatively natural split in how it worked.
This isn't conspiracy, or an attempt to make anyone look bad, but merely my view on it and who was the driver for the transfers |

We didn't have a recruitment team, we had to just flush out all contacts we had, of which Ashton did having headed up the recruitment at Bristol City

I wouldn't say celina was a hit. Highest earner... biggest reputation... yet apart from a worldie and a few cameos, he was most often on the bench. Underpar... or OK at best... but not a hit. In the end, glad he didn't come back and much prefer a lesser talented - but more comitted - player like Harness.

Edwards was a free transfer. Definitely a hit. Did he live up to the huge potential and initial hype, possibly not. Was he an important member of the squad and a free transfer. Yes. Hit. Played a lot more than Aluko who is down as hit (which I agree with for as much off the pitch stuff).
Evans is definitely a hit as well. He was in our top 3 performers first half of title season. Made important contributions. Few injuries for sure but 100% hit.

There is alot of Hit's in that list. Its nice signing decent players who improve, rather than journey men who have had there time.

But the 'if fit' is massive for Evans - by the time he leaves he will have played 46 league games across 3 seasons - that's just not enough (and I personally haven't rated him that highly when he did play bar a good dozen games at start of last season) | |

Yep, he wanted to sign Jacobs as an example (who he has since signed at Chesterfield) and the deal was as done as it could be bar the literal final piece....Ashton then got wind Edwards was avaialble and we did that and just sacked off Johnson.
But Cook would have had to agree to that, and was singing Edwards' praises to all who listened when he first had him - there certainly wasn't massive tensions brewing in that regard.
Funnily enough, the one player who he wanted to get rid of almost straight away and replace was Cameron Burgess who was very much his signing | |

I got the impression Cook thought all his Christmases had come at once with all these signings, especially given the fact that he worked under such huge financial constraints previously.
