Anyone who maligns Woolfenden in any way is a massive one for me. I guess they must have a bit of a personal hang-up from an earlier era, because in the McKenna era the Woolf has been absolutely fantastic, one of the most crucial components of our style of play and one of the biggest reasons we are where we are.
Noticeably yesterday when Blackburn weren't quite pressing us enough (for our highly tuned requirements), rather than safely recycle the ball square, Woolfy took a plunge into midfield, just enough to goad an approach from Blackburn, before immaculately shifting the ball on, without ever looking under threat. There's excellent intelligence, control and decision making in his game now which will see him do very well at the next level up if/when. |  |
