Omari has had the skills for a while, it's tactics and decision making that Kieran has been working on. How much has that improved since August. Omari is smart and will learn quickly from Kieran and the team. Sky is the limit for the lad, as far as I can see. |  | | |

We can’t be in the business of ramping player values!! We need to get great value for players for the next year or so, in this case we’d still have to coach and build the value. Ok if the opportunity is to have a player at £30/40/60m in a year or two.
Chelsea will be valuing him on potential, we have to value him on being a first year championship player with potential to be a premier league player because that’s where he has so far performed.
£15m is a lot for any championship player, top end or not (I know he was great and contributed significantly to our automatic promotion)!
You’d hope there is a deal to be done around £12-£18m, plus add ons if Chelsea push hard.
When we start paying £20m+ for players as a Y1 PL team that’s perfectly doable today but really unfunded in the later years of the contract, even when amortised under FFP (or whatever the rules are called) should the worst happen ie we could be left with significant over spends until we sell players.
In reality that is what would happen, players would be sold but it means being certain you can recover significant value if we had to. MA still has to plan for all outcomes.
It’s catch 22, spend enough to be very competitive but don’t bring down the house (again)!

I like the loan with option to buy option. Lets see if he can do it against the best first. (sure he can, but lets be sure) £25M next season would be far more affordable FFP wise. |
Although a 5 year deal spreads the cost to £5m a season for PSR/FFP purposes and you'd assume if we went down we would get our money back anyway.
