But it has to be backed today if you’re going to be doing it.

Epsom - 3yo Dash - Due For Luck at 8/1 e/w

Now the reason for this is quite simple. Epsom have had a major issue and have run out of space somewhat for stabling their horses for the Derby day card on Saturday. Therefore, they are going to be limiting the number of runners in some of the races. I’ve a mate who has one in the race and his won’t run now as they’re running 11 runners max. Usually there are 20 runners in this sprint handicap. The antepost market is still priced up as though there will be 20 runners but of course there won’t be.

Our lad is jocked up and is expected to run and is number 11 in the weights so is guaranteed a run. However, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th in the betting right now are currently not getting in. In fact, 8 of the top 11 in the weights are jocked up already so the chances of those high in the betting getting a run is very slim. And you are getting 4 places because of the high number of runners expected previously that now will not happen.

Due For Luck at the moment is 8/1 but when declared tomorrow and there are only 11 in the field, the majority of which are 20/1+ right now, he’s clearly not going to be that price. I’d suggest he will halve in price in fact.

Cheers Rommers - I've popped a small stake on.

Just a question out of curiosity rather than any snideness - what's the general view on the sharing of this sort of information? I assume that if it was the stock market it would be classed as insider trading or suchlike, but is it a case that different rules apply to this sort of thing? I remember the bookies taking an absolute pasting at the start of last season when word got out that there had been a massive error in pricing up the bookings market on opening day. (I'd have made £16k off a fiver had I not lost my nerve and cashed out...)

Not that it bothers me - any chance to stick it to the bookies is fair game in my eyes.

Out of interest are there any of the long odds ones going to make it that are worth a decent EW if they are stopping the field back?

Nothing I can be sure is going to run that also will be suited to a fast downhill 5f. The two I liked were Grandlad and Due for Luck who both want this sort of race. The former is clearly not getting in.

I’m actually there on Saturday for what it’s worth. Have gone through the card all week in depth.

I also believe Clerendon House will follow up it's win at York in the Aston Martin Dash, but no insider info here, just my fancy. Should have hit it hard in the York race as despite drifting to 8/1 won by 1 1/2 lengths form the horse that is now the favourite for Aston Dash, but even on 4lb worse terms I still think it has a decent chance.

I got 7/1 on BET365. I could have shopped around for 8/1 but I couldn't be bothered creating an account on another site.

Sharing this sort of information is ok as it’s available on the BHA website in the owners section. Anyone who owns even part of a share in a horse can access it so that’s fair game to say about the limited field sizes. I suspect once the racing press get on it tomorrow once the field sizes become obvious, it’ll be a bit of a stir. On racing’s biggest flat meeting day, it’s one hell of a cockup really to have no space left to stable them because of this 8th race they introduced a year ago. It’s embarrassing really to be quite honest.

Now other info I often get sent about horses expected to need the run or expected to win, I keep that relatively quiet. I was told a horse was working like a weapon at home this week before its debut today, it duly opened at 11/4 and went off 11/10 and won like a good thing (2:50 Hamilton - the Burke horse. Ascot bound I’d suggest after that). Now that sort of info, whilst it would make me look clever on here for example, is best kept on the down low or I’d lose the info sharpish as trust would be broken.

I guess everyone gets info on different things it’s just that this is something I can use to gain money. It’s something similar to the thread on here a few years ago about Dagenham and Redbridge v Aldershot. If you remember, I put aldershot up as a bet at the start of the week at 2/1 because I’d heard from a mate at the club (I did a few months work experience there prior) that Dagenham had financial problems and the first team were striking. As such, the entire youth team were called up, Dagenham made I think it was 8 changes, aldershot was the most backed thing on oddschecker across the Wednesday and Thursday and then obliged for half this forum at by that point Even money. The odds crumbled and the result went our way. Is it ethical? Perhaps not. But really it’s just very clever I like to think. I’ll have a look and see if I can find that thread. Here you go bud:

Looks like Epsom have sorted it and now can run 20 in the race.

Which ruins things abit.

Grandlad is in the race because of the extra runners and I do really fancy him so I’ve added him. Now have two darts.

If it places it (7 places with Skybet) turns £20 into £30 so still value! Obviously turning £20 into £120 would be a lot nicer!

Put on a bit on Mart this morning @10-1 as form etc looked ok to me, wasted money or reasonable EW shot?

Yep 20 runners, 13/2 at Betfred right now, still tempted to have a massive fiver on it..
