Roll call of those who didn't believe... on 16:49 - May 30 with 2526 views | Churchman | I thought he’d leave until Phil confirmed he was staying on Tuesday. I was more concerned about this dragging on to the detriment of the club than anything else. If you want to go, go. Stay? Great. Just make your mind up! I’m quite binary on stuff like this. The faffing about over the past few days? Felt like a load of lawyers bumping up their costs. Mind you with our American ownership, I can’t see us getting mugged off like would have been once upon a time.

Roll call of those who didn't believe... on 16:52 - May 30 with 2504 views | DanTheMan | I thought if one of the big boys came knocking, he'd have been off. I was fairly sure he wouldn't leave for Brighton. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

Roll call of those who didn't believe... on 17:05 - May 30 with 2443 views | Arthur_Hayes | I may be in the minority, but I thought he’d stick with us simply because of the character he’s shown in the past few seasons. McKenna seems like a genuine, humble chap with old school values and morals, and it appears that he has a sense of duty to the club and fans for the faith and support we’ve given him in his time here. Also, why would you jump ship at the first opportunity after arriving in the (so called) Promised Land, when the whole point of the “project” was to get us back up to the top flight. Hopefully we’ll have a successful season (i.e not relegation), and his stock will be just as high, if not higher. Even if we don’t, a young and progressive thinking manager will still be in demand, as shown by Vincent Kompany’s appointment at Bayern.

Roll call of those who didn't believe... on 17:25 - May 30 with 2372 views | wkj | I was always confident he would stay with us for one more year at least. However, there was a point where it felt like confidence was skewing more toward hope. That said, as soon as Schwartz was reported as getting involved I knew deep down we where landing his contract.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sir Alex gave him a bit of advice at the LMAs "Not yet son, but soon - we'll see to that"

Roll call of those who didn't believe... on 17:32 - May 30 with 2348 views | PhilTWTD | Believe what, that nothing was going on? That I shouldn't be reporting anything as it was all nonsense? Think Kieran's comments confirm that the interest was real and it would have been a dereliction of duty not to report the story as it was happening. On what you actually meant - and I wasn't suggesting you were saying the above, this just seemed an appropriate thread - I was pretty much convinced he was going to Brighton a week ago. I think he may have been himself. But Town turned it around.

Never thought Brighton or Chelsea. But once MU reportedly threw their hat into the ring I was worried.

I didn't mean that or to offend. I tried not to think about it ... just blindly believed he would stay. I understand there was plenty of stress that we as fans had little control over.

The most shocking revelation, for me, to come out of last week was how close he came to joining Palace back in Feb.

Roll call of those who didn't believe... on 17:57 - May 30 with 2045 views | gainsboroughblue | On the weekend of De Zerbi's announcement, I was concerned. The Chelsea one didn't worry me at first but that somehow had legs and escalated. Then he Man Utd situation had me convinced there was too many options out there for him not to go. But then, things seemed to stop. The longer it went on, the more I thought he wouldn't be going anywhere. Have to say though, we have dodged some real serious bullets there, given the vacancies (and one potential vacancy) that sprung up all at the same time. At least we should be able to at least go into the first few months of the season stress free from it.

I think KM is still destined for Man United, possibly within the next 2 or 3 years. I truly believe that Sir Alex gives KM a bit of advice and mentoring and probably was advised to wait a little bit longer before jumping into the fray of elite level management. Purely speculative, mind you.

Oh yeah, the Norwich "Elites". There was some aggro at away games with them wasn't there? But of course, being thick, they started fights with their own fans lol

"Town turned it around" Can't believe you missed the opportunity to say: "Just like they did so often on the pitch these past two seasons" Edit: or was that implied and I just whooshed myself?? [Post edited 30 May 2024 18:06]

Plenty of shame on those who called his integrity into question though, there was buckets of that going around.
