Seat moves from west stand just notified 16:52 - Jun 10 with 19148 viewsmarkt

Hi, Just been told about 600 of us have to move to accommodate the new press box running along west stand upstairs. We have to get in a queue tomorrow morning to move but options are severely restricted or restricted in west , or the crap ones in Sir Alf. Very poorly organised , and no time to sort,. How did Cobbold moves get on, I understand they were told and moved last week

Are you a club bot being paid to continuously defend them against every single post where someone is expressing even the mildest frustration about “HOW”‘it’s being done rather that “WHAT” is being done as this is pretty universally understood and accepted

It’s ok to be both loyal to the club and also criticize it for mistakes.

Of course not. The clubs IT is awful, you don't think they actually have anyone capable of coding a bot? I honestly don't think they have done much wrong in the circumstances. This would be just like the North stand move if they were in a position to tell people about a new stand. Some peoples expectations that the club should have allowed them to say goodbye to people they have sat with. Or that the club should individually call over 1000 season ticket holders is frankly insane.

The club had no choice but to maximise sales on promotion to generate revenue. They could never have known they would be in this situation only 12 months later.

Nope not accepting that. We've been in the promotion race all season and this was always a possibility. They managed to pre-arrange building works just in case as the work started fairly rapidly after the season ended. Fans, yeah not really thought about so much.

I do think it’s wrong that they’re only telling people they need to move now. How come those in D got an advantage when it comes to seats? Surely everyone should have been informed together?

I think they staggered telling people in different areas so as the ticket office wasn't overwhelmed by calls from everyone all in one go.

In no way has the club done their best here. It feels like "Well if they don't like it we've got a waiting list full so sod em". A lot of this could have been mitigated if they had thought more carefully how they communicated such news

There does seem to be a consensus of like it or lump it, knowing they have a waiting list, but as we are all too aware, football is very fluid and whilst the going is good, it does remind me of the phrase "Be careful who you sh1t on, on the way up, as you don't know who you'll need on the way down"

The required building works like many other things would come above season ticket moves.

I get it's a fine line, but just means those of us last to know end up in the dreggs of the seats on offer.

Unfortunately that was always going to be the situation for someone. As someone said above, hindsight suggests allowing season ticket numbers to get above the originally set cap last year has had an impact on the situation.

Yep, I mentioned that, which has been a big bug bear for a lot of us, why not move first, then add the additional 1k? We're the ones that have been paying for years, quite frankly through utter dross too.

Of course it needed to happen, nobody is questioning that. Its all about being open and transparent with the fans, you know the ones who pay their hard-earned cash each week and travel across the land to watch them. Just amazes me that they didn't think it would upset people or even worse they did think and didn't care to manage it in a better manner.

I think as a gesture the club should have given a full refund on the ticket cost for one season.

Doubt they would ever go that far as it sets a precedent come re-development of the Cobbold, but a few ITFC shop vouchers would be nice

Ashton did say weeks ago that there would be number of moves. If the truth be known the club are probably unprepared for all the extra work that is going on over and above a normal pre season. There is the work at the training ground on top of the work at the stadium.

Calling 1000 people, what a Herculean task - I don't know how any multi million pound business could manage something so out there and unusual

How about all existing ST holders are put in a massive hat and their seats are randomly drawn? Could be any stand, any seat, any view..... Exciting!

Make calls? And what are the people making the calls going to be working on to physically move the seat? The clubs internal ticket sales system was last upgraded when we were in the premier league? The online system on the website all runs in the cloud and just updates the clubs dilapidated old database.

You seem to be a man in the know.

Have you been asked by the club to stop doing your normal job and come on here to help placify the fans? If you can do extra tasks outside your normal day-to-day, so can the others in the club!

I don't, but there are 750 across the ground, so a fair proportion of the overall season ticket holding.

Not sure how often you go to matches, but some people have sat together for years and have been through thick and thin together. It's all part of the experience, especially when you sign up for another season of League One but you do it anyway.

Then you get told you've lost your seat and best of luck going online and finding a seat where you can continue to enjoy it with your friends that you've made over the 20+years you've sat together. You renewed your season ticket based on the seat you have and also the atmosphere around you. You've been missold your ticket.

If I was impacted I would be fuming. Absolutely fuming, not that I have to move, but more its been done in such an impersonal and unprofessional way.

The reality is we are not a family-run club now, it's all about business, which has its pros and cons. This has been one of the cons. In the age of the internet and social media, it doesn't take much to lose the good will.

I went to 18/23 home game and a fair few away.

I’m not sure what point you were making. Mine was, people might have to suck it up and sit with someone else, want to sit with the same eight people you’ve sat with for years?

You can’t, because there aren’t nine seats together in the whole stadium. I’m fully expecting to be told I’ve got to move up a few seats to create blocks of seats together. And that’s absolutely fine with me.

So if it works in the cloud then it can be accessed by more people then, as opposed to one person sitting there moving floppy disks around the office?

And also, we are talking about the club not engaging with people properly - the phone calls are more meant initially as an attempt to try and help and pacify people, explain things etc
