Seat moves from west stand just notified 16:52 - Jun 10 with 20145 views | markt | Hi, Just been told about 600 of us have to move to accommodate the new press box running along west stand upstairs. We have to get in a queue tomorrow morning to move but options are severely restricted or restricted in west , or the crap ones in Sir Alf. Very poorly organised , and no time to sort,. How did Cobbold moves get on, I understand they were told and moved last week

Of course they do! The season doesn't start for another two months. This has been handled appallingly and it wouldn't have taken much thought to make the best of a bad/difficult situation. I think everyone appreciates there was no choice but to move people, but there are ways and means that could have made people feel like valued customers and not just commodities or some form of nuisance.

Overall capacity being reduced by 800 with all the premier league ‘improvements’.

Seat moves from west stand just notified on 20:16 - Jun 10 by mellowblue | I don't mean to moan really. Having had the same seat for 43 years ( a good front row one at that) has been a privilege, but I don't see what else could be done. I shall just suck it up and needing 2 seats (not because I am huge but because I take my son) accept seats probably right at the back of the stand with a restricted view as there are no others. At least I will still have a seat that 1000's would love to have and can get a good few more seasons under my belt before old age or death catches up! The club have been caught navel-gaving a bit, which is unlike them. |
You have very good reason to moan! It's a disgrace. Yes, the club has no choice but how and why hasn't this been given sufficient thought to ensure it is done in a way that at least feels somewhat fair? We may not have expected to get to the Premier League so soon, but requirements must have been known. It merely demonstrates that every single fan is dispensable regardless of the loyalty/level of custom they have shown over the years.

Will it be reduced by that much seeing as they’ve added a few hundred seats in X block and Cobbold upper?

That’s what I’ve been told. Press box size of space ship, segregation and the 46 extra camera points have eaten into it.

The club could never have known that they would go straight up. And they had no choice but to sell as many season tickets as possible. They needed to generate revenue to spend on the playing squad. impossible situation.

Come on, how many people does the club employ in the ticket office 5 or 6 maybe? How many calls can a person make in a day? It just isn't possible.

They sold approximately 1 thousand more than they intended to do. One reason for holding back that extra thousand was these sorts of issues that they knew would be on the horizon.

Maybe selling 1000 more season tickets was the difference between being able to sign one more player in January or not?

They would surely have sold those seats anyway and it's not a case of a quick injection to the cashflow as a lot of those 1000 would be on the direct debit payment scheme.

Given the appetite for tickets last season, the club would have received more revenue had the 1000 been available to general sale. I believe they've acknowledged they sold more than intended, and the financial impact of doing so is negative when demand exceeds supply.

Respect. Can understand the upset and frustration but the club literally have no choice but to frustrate and disrupt some fans. Well done for top attitude to this.

possibly; hard to turn away easy money. However a business with the ambitions of Ipswich should have researched future needs. Ashton has had 2 premier spells so would have been more aware.

promotion came a year sooner than anyone expected. The blow could have been softened with 1st choice on seats in a new Cobbold or vacated seats in the old Pioneer.

Seat moves from west stand just notified on 20:00 - Jun 10 by itfcjoe | There is an option to try and make this fairer - ie moving all people an equal ish amount so that those who have had the best seats (and generally will be the longest serving STs) aren’t basically dumped to the back of the Q so to speak. It’s the sort of thing that needed to be handled which more sensitivity than it has been - the like it or lump it approach must be very upsetting for those fans who have watched us struggle for years |
The trouble with this is Joe that you p*ss off double the number of people. I don’t suppose the 60 year same seat + programme brigade would want my rusty framework iffy seat in the stalls but if they did and I was shifted behind a pillar to accommodate somebody who was thought a priority / privileged I’d raise merry hell. I’ve got my seat. They have theirs. So they have a problem (not of the clubs making). Don’t make me pay for their problem. Oh, and in terms of entitlement good luck in judging a scale of priority with that. My grandfather was watching in the 20s. My dad was fighting Norwich supporters at Carrot Road in the 50s and had a season ticket for decades. I’ve had one on and off since goodness knows when. It’s all irrelevant. I’m entitled to precisely nothing. In the here and now it’s about squeezing people into the ground. I feel lucky to be able to witness what’s happening from my mediocre view. I get the criticism, the grief and the gripes but I don’t see a viable solution for the numbers involved beyond what they are doing. Tbf to you Joe, at least you are suggesting more than my non solution of grin and bear it. [Post edited 11 Jun 2024 7:36]

Seat moves from west stand just notified on 19:02 - Jun 10 by EsherBlueStu | It seems like we’re being penalised for being season ticket holders in the League One years. Couldn’t they make all the seats available that were only sold as ST for first time last year available and make the championship fanboys move to restricted view. (I’m sure there’s a million reasons why not but I’m so frustrated…) I got screwed on loyalty last year too. Got away tickets in League One with ST but no membership (as no need) but then didn’t get points in Championship so couldn’t get to away games I wanted to despite them buying a membership card! They’ve made sure to penalise the loyal season ticket holders… again…. |

Got away tickets in League One with ST but no membership (as no need) but then didn’t get points in Championship so couldn’t get to away games I wanted to despite them buying a membership card! ” I’m not sure how you didn’t manage to get any points or tickets for away games. I was in exactly the same situation as you at the start of last season having only had a season ticket but no membership. However, I still managed to get tickets for myself and two sons for 14 away games last season, despite starting with only the five points for buying a membership.

Completely disagree on this. The club should have been sensitive to the fans, the ones who have been there before the new owners came in and will still be here long after they have sold up and mob moves on. If they were really that bothered they could have flexed in other parts of the club to assist, even temp employees to help mitigate this. Marketing department for example could easily helped out. Even get Ashton doing some, he is good at smoozing. Whilst I appreciate that we have gone up much quicker than expected it's not like we were languishing at the bottom of the table when renewal time came around. We were pushing for promotion with a real chance of getting it. Also funny how quickly the building works started which means the club had an idea in place of what could be impacted should this occur and had a plan for that but no communication plan for those who's PR experience will change The worse of it is doing it by piecemeal and letting all people fight over the best seats. Really each impacted member should have had a courtesy call to discuss options and not left for a massive bun fight over the best seats with the fastest finger first winning. Overall a rather unpleasant taste in the mouth for those impacted unfortunately and I feel for them. Especially if you've been a long term dweller in the seats that are affected.

Its the summer many staff will be on holiday and none of the other staff will know how to use the ticketing system. The ticketing system is probably just dedicated desktop PCs so it can probably only be used by a handful of staff at any one time, so no scope to add extra staff in to help out. Ticket sales have been online for some time its just about all self service. The other staff that are in will be focussed on the building work, transfers and other prep work for next season. I expect that the club will do something for the inconvenienced fans when the new cobbold is announced. [Post edited 11 Jun 2024 6:24]

This is a non-argument, no one would tolerate this if you were dealing with other organisations you subscribe to. The club is a business that has just had a massive increase in it's income. It can afford a few temps to manage this transition (if needed), the same way I have to staff up for increased demand in my role.
