Some screenshot from an account I can't follow/link. Apparently we've had a zoom meeting with him.

Would make total sense he's on the list and definitely potential Prem player. Would he be the right profile to replace Ali at this level? Starter? I'm a fan.

He's good. I would say he is more on par with Hirst but with a higher ceiling. As it stands he's not a player who will get 15 goals a season in The Prem but may well mature into one. I would look to get an older more established player to come in as well. Danny Ings for example.

So?

Maidstones players scored against us, want to sign them too?

I liked him a lot when Hull played us, raw but loads of potential and he'd fit right in with the way we play. I'd definitely be keen if he's available

Kmc wanted him in each of the last 3 windows. We know how that ends up…..

Would take him on a permanent deal but hopefully we’ll use our loan slots for a higher level of player.

You're not part of Man City's academy if you haven't got something about you. If it's true that McKenna has wanted him previously, then I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be a loan with an obligation deal we aim to do.

I'd be happy with him. A long term investment who can hit the ground running from the off.

Don't think we have enough loan slots for someone who might not be able to contribute immediately.

Buying might be a different matter though.

Isn't in 2 domestic loans though? I think I've read Man City are wanting £10m for him this summer which is probably fair seeing as most of that will be based on potential.

I wouldn't see him as the main man and would expect a higher calibre/more proven striker to come in as well.

With that in mind, I'm not sure a deal for him really works for us at the moment? As others have said, with domestic loan spots at a premium, we want to use those to get real difference makers (if possible). And a permanent deal is going to cost us well north of £10m I would think. Doesn't seem the best use of the budget.

But if KM wants him, who am I to argue!

Yes which isn't many if you're filling one slot with someone who isn't established.

I've known Delap's been on the wishlist for ten days or so (Joe will confirm!)

He's seen as a great option for various reasons - he can play centrally or wide right as an alternative option to Burns. He's come through the City academy and Kieran likes those kinds of players as they can be moulded/coached more easily. He's also a sound investment. £9m-£10m could easily be worth £35m+ if he has a good season or two.

Oh, Rosenior's recommended to Delap he joins Town too!

I hadn't thought about his versatility to be fair. Definitely right re a good investment, the right profile to exponentially increase in value. McKenna talked him up a couple of times last season which is always a telling sign he rates him.

Hoping this is more than just fan ITK nonsense as I really like Delap. He's had 3 loan spells in the champ where he has really impressed so I think he's ready to step up now.

Excellent technique and control of the ball under pressure and more importantly for the step up - pace!

Also something different from Hirst, think he'd be seen as something more as a Chaplin & Burns competitor in those 2 positions.

I would agree with all that.
We've also got to consider that KMcK will look to adapt his favoured style of play for the big leap into the Premier League.
In League 1 & the Championship we were largely a dymamic, unorthodox 4-2-3-1, where one full back could push on into attack & the defence would morph into a back 3. This allowed us to be an attack minded footballing side, which was reflected in both our goal scored & goals conceded columns.
Now KMcK is not going to abandon his footballing principles, but he knows he will have to mitigate somewhat against the sheer power & quality of some of the best players on the planet next season. It wouldn't surprise me if he moved us more into a 4-3-3 side when in possession, that switches to a 4-5-1 when out of possession, in order to help out the midfield that will be under enormous pressure in this league, irrespective of who we bring in.
Having a forward like Delap, who can play centrally as well as out wide, would fit that system too, & we know the manager likes footballers with versatility.

You can see into the future and can guarantee he won't score 15 goals in the Prem next season for whoever he's playing for?

Why are you trying to wind me up mate? I'm just expressing an opinion. My opinion is that if Delap played for us he would score goals but not as many as 15. You are pulling me up on semantics when you know exactly what I mean.

Not given any encouragement on this one. Did think there might be something in it as we were interested in a previous window.
