Because the majority of PL teams have hugely over inflated wages for average players, so you can take the likes of Maguire, if you cough up £200k a week....

We can look outside the fish bowl of English football.

So we're paying 3 times the price because he already lives in England and can speak English.

Spot on mate that's exactly what I said

Bristol City sold Webster for £20m 5 years ago. Your valuation of Greaves is miles off. And Philogene is a similar ball park to Omari.

Not sure what Webster's price has to do with Greaves sale, but as I said Nathan Wood who is younger than Greaves and has represented England at most youth levels is (apparently) going from Swansea to Southampton for £5m.

I don't get this 'going rate' arguement. If that's a rule, then why aren't Southampton paying £10m+ for Wood

Communication is a massive part of us now.

McKenna like detail, he doesn't want to lose time in anything being lost in translation.

Plus we have a very close squad, like it or not, there are cultural differences across nations that can raise eyebrows.

Not that they're bad personailities, just different, can create awkwardness.

We want our transition to the PL to be smooth, very smooth.

Foreign market cheaper, but is more difficult to integrate and Ashton has already said so.

Perhaps Greaves is better than Wood? I'd back McKenna's judgement. Greaves was the best CB in the league last year alongside Rodon. Wood also only has a year left which impacts his price.

I'd say the Webster price is fairly relevant as a comparison. They are comparable deals in terms of the best defender in the league moving up to the PL. You could equally use Harwood-Bellis going for £22m as a comparison.

Think you're paying a premium for an increased likelihood that they'll be able to hit the ground running, will integrate more easily into the team set up.

Poll: How many points do you think you'll need to get a ticket for Norwich?
