Definitely not tory but not convinced by Labour either. Though at least our local Labour candidate is actually a bona fide local person. Will probs go Labour.

Where I am (Sevenoaks constituency) the tory will get in regardless so my vote is a waste of time. I’ll still do so.

I wish Count Binface was standing here. A manifesto for a better Britain:

I particularly like ‘ to combat the uk’s increasingly wet climate, all british citizens to be offered stilts’. Makes sense to me?

he’s got some practical solution that could make real differences to people’s lives. here’s another one:

“23 the hand dryer in the gents’ urinals at the crown & treaty, uxbridge to be moved to a more sensible position.”

I’m a bit worried he’s a bit exclusive though. what about women, trans people and those of us who don’t live in uxbridge? there’s something dodgy about people who don’t capitalise proper nouns and the first word in a sentence too.

Yesterday's Sky News MRP poll predicts it is closer than you think in Sevenoaks.

If you follow this link, and click on the right had map lower down at the appropriate place or search your constituency by name, you can see the predicted result, as you can for all constituencies.

EDIT: that link no longer works, I assume because of election day purdah. From recollection, I think it was the Lib Dems in second place, but I can't be sure about that. Maybe have a look at a tactical voting site to confirm.

That’s the trouble with tactical voting in areas where the conservatives get in every time. I was getting mildly excited at the possibility of Kemi Badenough losing to tactical voters and fascists voting Reform - but our fascist has been outed as a fascist and apparently that means rabid right wingers will now vote for the 528th worst constituency MP in the country.

Always surprised every election how many of the TWTD class warriors reveal themselves as bourgeoisie living in safe Tory seats.

i was driving into Colchester along the A120 (Coming from Stansted way) the other day. Come round a corner and was suddenly confronted with a huge billboard with Priti Patel on it at the roadside. Quite a shocking experience! It looked like it had been well vandalised!

The Frimmers of the General section has opined.

Btw - you want to revise your much stated opinion that voters didn't give a toss about partygate?

I live in Erith & Thamesmead. The seat has been Labour since its creation in 1997. Current MP is Abena Oppong-Asare. At the last election it was within 3k votes between Labour and Tory, the closest it had ever been, but I suspect it will be a bigger Labour majority this time, especially as Reform are likely to have some supporters around here.

I am voting for Sarah Barry, Green Party. As I said on a thread a while back, I will raise a glass to the demise of the Tory party as we know it (and certain individuals too) but this incarnation of the Labour party does not represent me and I won't vote for it under Starmer when it is clear that they will get in anyway. In a closer race I would probably vote Labour through a lot of gritted teeth.

You think the election will be decided by Partygate??? This is a peak boujee opinion. Nothing to do with living standards crumbling infrastructure millions of children living in poverty and a general decline of a once great society into a second world country. Scenes.

Absolutely it is one reason of many. 100%.

Plenty of informed political pollsters have stated as much.

Is there anything particular that stands out to you in the LD plans that’s better than, or missing, in Labour’s (they both have quite a lot of plans).

It is just that Starmer says things like 'we will hire 2000 new teachers' without appearing to realise that it just isn't that simple, they need to come from somewhere (I know he does realise this but not mentioning how he will do it makes me think it won't happen and is just said for the election). Ed Davey addresses the details of how to do these things a bit more. It is not much of a difference but it is something.

But I do hope that Labour win a good majority. In my opinion, the Tories have already proven to not work, and while I have little faith in Labour to be much different, I think it is absolutely worth giving them a chance because I might very well be wrong.

They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all!

I think the pipeline is there, as somewhere around 20,000-25,000 students get their PGCE each year. They’ve said they’d increase the budget from the VAT on private schools pledge. So if that pledge is implemented, they should in theory be able to increase numbers quickly. They’d have to persuade newly qualified teachers to stay in the sector though, and/or persuade more existing teachers to not leave. I’ve no idea how difficult that battle of hearts and minds would be.
