I suspect (hope) that the way the projections are modified by demographics doesn't do enough to take into account strong constituency-specific campaigning factors.

That’s why they either (a) are a-holes, or (b) sell their souls to a-holes, isn’t it? Honours, place in the Lords, sorted for life on taxpayers money. Lovely stuff. Starmer’s planning to bloat the Lords. You can understand why, as he needs to readdress the political balance after the Tories have been stuffing it full. But it’s going to be much larger than the HoC and only getting larger. Time to end life peerages, have terms and have a total cap on numbers. At the least.

Soooo many green posters and placards all around me - in the heart of the Waveney Valley. Would love for this new constituency to fly a different colour flag. But we’ll see.

An exit poll posted on the local facebook page yesterday evening suggested that the Green Party could win the seat. Their campaign was robust, whereas the conservatives thought they would win the seat as per usual without any serious effort. I voted Labour here for only the second time in my lifetime, but fair play to the Greens, they have obviously resonated with the good folks of the Waveney Valley.

The reason I voted green over Labour was simply because they will actually work hard in the community. We've had local green councillors around the area for a while and they have a good track record. I must admit, if Labour would have been the tactical vote, I would have been tempted - but I am quite happy that we get to see Adrian have his crack. I know a fair number of people in Waveney are upset about the level of HGV traffic on rural roads. If they attack that well, they could set up a bit of a base in Suffolk.

If we ever get to the point that 'who they support' determines the vote, we're beyond saving as a society.

Absolutely. The local elections should have been a bit of a wake up call around here but not one that was heeded. I did vote Green in the local elections as they were the most pro active by some distance and were prepared to listen and discuss local issues which was quite refreshing as didn’t hear a peep from the other candidates.
