Home vs Away tickets 10:03 - Jul 20 with 8881 views | E_I_E_I_E_I_O | In all my years of supporting Ipswich it has never been easier to get away tickets than home, yet here we are in a situation where my expected tickets might be 19 vs 5/6 in favour of away. That can't be right. After going to 10 away games last season I am on 20 points so hopefully good for most if not all aways. Have been to 95% of homes last 4/5 years but never bothered with a ST...more fool me! But I never thought it would come to this. What I am still struggling to understand is the 1 game minimum for the ballot when a few days later the last 75% of tickets are a free for all. So unless I'm missing something the ballot is futile. Some smart people had plenty of time to come up with this so why would the threshold not be more like 10 games? That way non ST holders that have attended often get to a few more games at least. Surely by having a ballot it's designed to give the loyal fans a extra chance....but that's not the case if the threshold is 1. It's just creating more admin, I can't see the purpose. It's crossed my mind to get every away ticket possible and then trying to find people that on occasion would be happy to swap a home game for a away with me. Seems bizarre if it would come to that but at the moment seems a viable option.

Meanwhile tickets for every single game will be on sites like Stubhub etc for big sums going to Youtubers and non ITFC fans......I'd point your anger towards the people that will be involved in that rather than someone swapping a ticket. You called it a bad move and swore while doing so, so to me that came across angry. Saying there is nothing different to 2 friends that have been almost ever present for decades maybe swapping home/away tickets to those 1 game wonders from last year buying them and putting them on well know ticket sites purely to make profits really is too much. Blimey.

Some people have too much time. A few season back vs Burton Albion I was poorly and gave my ticket to a friend so maybe report that also. Oh and last season on more than 1 occasion I called the Lino some mean names so could report that too.

Home vs Away tickets on 10:36 - Jul 20 by E_I_E_I_E_I_O | Excuse me? So if there is a home game I'd like to go to and an away game a friend would like to go to and we get each others tickets that is a issue for you? (Meanwhile tickets will be on stubhub etc for all games) Everything that is going on in the world these days and it's things like that which annoy you....strewth indeed. |
It’s not that it’s an issue for me, it’s that it’s against the rules the Club has set. Why do you think you’re so much more entitled than everyone else, that you can simply game the system, when everyone else has to get in the queue and hope to be lucky? Newsflash - Demand is high, supply is low. You aren’t a ‘better’ fan than anyone else, so respect the rules the Club has made, and be grateful for what you get. Or if you can’t manage that, at least don’t have the brass neck to tell us all about it.

In fairness it means Phil or Gav might have to let the club know who they are which is crap for them too. Why people feel they are entitled like this and then get uppity is a mystery. If you’re gonna brag about this stuff you’re gonna get shut down, like the Twitter lot last season.

Home vs Away tickets on 18:46 - Jul 20 by Mullet | Who said I was angry? You seem to be pearl clutching at the idea that you trying to justify what suits you, isn’t actually beneficial for anyone else. They’re no different to you, so I’ve no idea why you think that makes it better. Just because it’s your friend doesn’t make it ok either. People constantly justifying why they deserve special treatment is tiresome at the best of times. Broadcasting it is not going to get people applauding you. |
Surely swapsies between friends where one can’t get to one game and the other can’t get to another due to health problems, family commitments etc., have always been a thing? Does it matter what the reasons are? Is it really an ‘abuse’ if it’s just a straight swap between two people? If you think it is, how would it be different from somebody posting on here (as quite often happens) that they find they can’t get to a game after all because of work or whatever, so would anyone else like it? I don’t have any skin in the game as I can’t go to any, so perhaps I’m missing something.

Yes in hindsight is was stupid of me to mention it. I didn’t think certain people would get out of their pram about it. I didn’t actually think it was breaking the rules. Taking a season ticket off a friend that can’t make it (happens all the time) and then showing my gratitude by gifting them an away ticket……I couldn’t fathom there would be folk out there thinking that’s worthy of wasting peoples time and reporting it.

The massive demand, tiny supply and queue now swollen by people coming out of the woodwork is the problem. When you’re charging everyone £40 a pop, circumventing that and then justifying it like this makes it crap all round for everyone.

If matey has reported this thread then it creates that headache for everyone. The ticketing system and twtd has terms and conditions too. Breaking either (and the relationship this site needs with the club) makes it awkward doesn’t it? Not sure it becomes a GDPR issue when the people in question are openly talking about breaking those rules and it’s on here. Having a username on any social media site isn’t protection from anything is it? I know the club have said to some people they were ringing people based on what they were putting on social media, how much they’ve done that is anyone’s guess. There was a Facebook group or two that was reported last season apparently - how seriously that site would take it though is doubtful. Now it’s Prem profile and way more money, the onus on them goes up too unfortunately. Why people are stupid enough to advertise themselves doing it is beyond me.

Home vs Away tickets on 13:37 - Jul 21 with 2773 views | J2BLUE | I feel for the club. Whatever they do they are going to upset people. I don't think they have got everything right but overall it seems ok. Some of us have to just accept we might only see one game in 4-5, if we're lucky. I'm hoping demand will be slightly down for the 'lesser' Prem teams. I don't really care who we play.

Some unfairness we're going to see next season will be in respect to away opportunities. One poster on this thread bought for Sunderland away when they had no intention of going, in order to bank their away point. Another bought for Norwich when they couldn't go, maybe to protect their position in the away scheme or maybe for purely 'symbolic' purposes. The knock-on effect is that others are denied the opportunity to buy tickets they should have had access to, or at least a better chance of buying. On the whole, I don't believe away ticket manipulation was a serious problem across last season. I'm sure there were people at Norwich who shouldn't have been there (on top of 'the 400' lol), but otherwise most games made lower points brackets. Now we're in the PL we have the £30 price cap and four less away games. A good number of people won't bat an eye over effectively purchasing an away season ticket next season (£570 for access to every away game), whether they intend to go to all 19 away games or just half of them. Some in this group will be receiving face value from friends or just 'treating them' to those games they don't want to or can't go to, while some will try to pass on to strangers for face value and others will try to make good money. Hopefully on the rare occasions people are caught doing this (selling on), the club 'hammers them'. I anticipate away ticket abuse will impact enough people to prove a genuine problem going forward, for as long as we're in the PL at least. Tis what it is really!

Home vs Away tickets on 15:18 - Jul 21 with 2666 views | Vegtablue | Yeah I won't be joining the rat race if my points put me on the cusp of being able to, or buying outside club channels either, because I'm not about that life. However, if the club provided a bundle package offer, let's say a pair of tickets to six away games of my choosing for a grand, I'd be all over it. So a pair of tickets to every away game for £1140 represents huge value to me, and no doubt many others who are more China than Japan when it comes to queueing attitudes etc.. I could stay at home for half of them and would still be very happy with my purchase, were I not bothered about negatively impacting fellow fans. And agreed, didn't experience any ticket checking personally or hear about that happening from credible sources, so I think the chance of any individual / group being caught gaming the system is very slim.

When you continuously throw sly digs around in your replies, it’s quite embarrassing how easily you’ve backtracked in the face of public scrutiny. From: “It's crossed my mind to get every away ticket possible and then trying to find people that on occasion would be happy to swap a home game for an away with me.” To: “Taking a season ticket off a friend that can’t make it” It’s against the Club’s rules, you knew it was, but you wanted someone to tell you how loyal and deserving you are. Sorry how this panned out for you.

Home vs Away tickets on 18:06 - Jul 21 with 2518 views | N2_Blue | Wow this thread is incredible, some of the responses to the OP are a bit uncalled for. I think there is a lot of resentment from people because they just happen to not be in the same position. Two mates that happen to be pretty regular and loyal fans sharing tickets or helping each other out getting a ticket is not abusing the system for me and I’m sure there are a few moaning about this that would actually do the same if they were in position to do so.

Those checks are carried out. Happened to me, people I know and also seen screen shots of the email others have got on X. Not sure if they were trying their hardest to catch me out so didn’t follow their own policy or just incompetent and don’t know it but it turned into a saga… Ordered my ticket. Then days later ordered a second ticket separately (for someone else in a lower points bracket). After a while I got an email saying I’d been selected for a random ID check so would need to collect mine. In the template email it specifically states that only the lead booker for that particular order has to collect etc, so just my ticket / order. However, second ticket on the separate order didn’t turn up either. So the other person calls the ticket office and queries it. Too much of a coincidence for it to get lost in the post but they state that it’s definitely been posted on x date. Time passes and it still doesn’t turn up so they had to call back and arrange for a duplicate to be printed. By then it meant that both orders had to be collected from the away ground. Got there and the original ticket was in the same envelope as mine (despite being ordered separately on a different day and them claiming that it’d been sent). Someone in the ticket office had to physically put the two orders together. So they either didn’t know their own policy terms or it was deliberate. The way the checks are meant to be done, as long as the lead booker is correct then it doesn’t matter who the rest of the tickets are given away to. Either way, didn’t let us know or refund the postage on either order. The duplicate was also there in a separate envelope. We obviously got both in the end but it was hassle. Got there early and no-one in sight. Then the tickets weren’t in alphabetical order so the bloke was going through all of them to find the right ones….in a high vis vest in the middle of the Town fans, encircled by people collecting, not out of the way with a proper queue as you might expect.
