Trouble in Birmingham tonight.... on 07:48 - Aug 6 by BanksterDebtSlave | Let's just say that talk of sides isn't helpful. If there is an 'other side' to violent right wing nutters it certainly isn't tooled up, masked Asian youth. Well not to my mind anyway. |
I could but won't share a number of videos that shows that there are in fact masked Asian youth tooled up.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 And you’re in bed with Muslim extremists. If we are going all silly season you can have that one back. I condemned both sides of this utterly disgusting act we are seeing. Both sides. With no preference of who goes 1st. Scum is scum, and equal in that.

Is anyone denying that’s happening though? Compare that to calling the Neo Nazis, looters and scumbags “protesters” when they’re not protesting at all is incredibly problematic. It’s easy to see why people understand the retaliatory stuff without condoning it either. There are already Muslims being sentenced and charged in Bolton. Yesterday a 16 year old kid was charged with being in possession of a baseball and a cricket bat. His attendance at mosque was used as part of his defence. Would it change much if people posted up stuff like that too? That seems to the main issue with the tacit defending of far right across social media.

You really need to clarify "both sides". I think you mean all violent people using whatever is going on as an excuse to prepetrate violence and other criminal acts. However, I think some are reading you as meaning one of the sides to be immigrants, assylum seekers, Muslims and those on the receiving end of the original far right violent thugs.

Exactly this, I of course haven’t worded it as well as yourself. Actions of all that have resorted to violence and intimidation are the enemy here.

Trouble in Birmingham tonight.... on 22:08 - Aug 5 by Mullet | Claims it was started by something in Solihull (I’m not a brum expert but thought that was quite a way from the city) that rumours of Far Right attacks sparked things, that there was a man outside the local mosque inciting people. The full force of the law is going to have to be felt and this does nothing but undermine sympathy and promote fear. The grifters and hate preachers have got what they wanted, I can only see a ricochet of violence in certain communities after the footage going around. I’m grateful I’m in the suburbs here and untouched by what happened in the city centre yesterday and Saturday. |
Re Geography: An incident at Solihull causing trouble at Birmingham Central Mosque is like an incident in Watford causing trouble at Finsbury Park Mosque. Or an incident in Woodbridge causing people to turn out in central Ipswich.
Trouble in Birmingham tonight.... on 10:25 - Aug 6 with 1289 views | giant_stow | Looks like Walthamstow is getting a turn tomorrow. If the far right turn up here, it could turn into a full on street battle. Huge debates on the Local Facebook group about the merits of peaceful counter protests. Edit: to add more detail someone has put together a list of 60 asylum processing centres around the country, one of which is here. To me, that list is pure incitement. [Post edited 6 Aug 2024 10:30]

Trouble in Birmingham tonight.... on 08:18 - Aug 6 by Mullet | The Tories. Not exactly a long debate to be had there. |
Islamophobia has been whipped up, condoned and underplayed by the right wing press and the Tories, and we are seeing the consequences. If you were Muslim, what would you do if you felt you and your community were under attack? Of course, if you are a minority in an area, you will end up cowering in your house, and afraid to leave your home, as in Middlesborough. But if you live in an area with a sizeable Muslim population is it not natural that some will seek to defend their community, even if that on occasions leads to some elements of unlawfulness, incidents which thus far pale into insignificance in comparison to those by the far right which are hateful and violent in the extreme? As it is, the fear of people who are not "indigenous" extends well beyond the Muslim community as this article from Trevor Phillips makes clear. He also puts a lot of the blame on the media and members of the Tory party. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/tory-liars-who-spouted-racist-33400444 "Over the weekend my wife and I were forced to tell our teenage kids to watch their backs during the school holidays. We’ve done the same with relatives and friends. We are driving our children to their summer jobs and their friends' houses. Few parents can afford to take any chances with mobs roaming the streets looking for anyone Black or Brown to assault - or worse." [Post edited 6 Aug 2024 11:34]

….thick violent scumbags are just looking for an excuse to go onto the streets and cause trouble. But obviously that will be seen as a big simplistic by many. But I’m a simple man (in more ways than one)

Cheers boots. I'll be taking the little one to an arsenal freindly - the tube is right by the building involved. Hope it's a false alarm, but just had a text from the gp surgery saying they're closing down for the day, so it looks like it's a real threat at least.

I have fought Muslim extremists. I have known people, colleagues, who have been killed by Muslim extremists. I hate extremists be they Muslim or any other. The people in Birmingham who, and I admit, were out of order are not Muslim extremists. A car whose occupants were Muslim in Hull was attacked by far right extremists who might have killed the occupants. I suppose had the driver of the car hit and killed one of the attackers as he scrambled to get away would be a Muslim extremist in your eyes. [Post edited 6 Aug 2024 11:32]

To a certain extent you are right. I think that the ones caught on camera are the right proper idiots who will get a nasty shock soon when the police catch up with them. The ones organising the violence and hated simply don’t get their hands dirty.

A woman from Middlesbrough has spoken about the ‘traumatic’ experience of having her family’s home attacked in the far-right riots that reached her area over the weekend. A woman called Anika told BBC Radio 4 about the rioting in her area, which left damage to their property. “We closed all the blinds and curtains, windows, whatever could lock. Go upstairs obviously, because it’s not safe to be downstairs.” She said people tried to get into their home, smashing the door’s window. “They were swearing racial slurs and then jumping on top of the [car] windscreen, the roof of it, breaking the side mirror windows – the car had to be a write-off.” She added that her mother, a carer, had not been able to go to the child she cares for due to the riot and damage to the vehicle. Anika described the attack as “really scary”. “It’s just been like a traumatic experience, like we’ve never experienced it our life.” [Post edited 6 Aug 2024 11:46]
