Suddenly feeling a little bit frightened. 13:35 - Aug 6 with 4004 viewsghostofescobar

First game now just over 10 days away. Liverpool and Citeh doing well in their pre seasons. Starting to feel a bit more real now. Blimey, it's going to be a challenge. I'm suddenly getting "just don't lose 6-0 at home on the first game" thoughts seeping into my tiny brain. How's every one else doing?

I remember feeling the same way about Spurs away in 2000. I was genuinely a bit pleased with the 3-1 defeat and came away thinking at least we didn't embarrass ourselves!

I think reality was always going to hit eventually for those first two games.

Just sit back and enjoy being back in the big time. We have a chance of winning against Liverpool. Not a big chance but a chance.

Truly impaired.

Looking forward to it.

Don't care about the result - I am going to enjoy it.

Enjoy the ride. Games against Liverpool and Man City won't define our season.

I think people underestimate how good a side we are under McKenna. Super well organised, well drilled, incredibly fit. Certainly a few heads short in midfield and attacking areas as it stands, but I think we'll surprise a few.

That's not to say we'll turn over Liverpool or City of course, its entirely possible and perhaps probably that we'll have 0 points after 2 games, but I do think we'll be competitive.

Not sure what you’re worried about. I don’t fear anyone at PR this season. We’ll lose a few but won’t be humiliated. Away from home will be a dice roll in more games than not.

Draw vs Liverpool
Admirable defeat at Citeh.

Wheras I was a nervous wreck every game last season I’m thinking that with expectation a lot lower games will be less stressful. I can see a comfortable Liverpool victory but this team does keep surprising us.

City lost to Celtic, Liverpool lost to Preston. We've beaten CL Shakhtar and EL Hoffenheim.

Of course we lost to Fortuna and they have won other games, but it's hardly any different to ours.

We are at home, and can give anyone a game at PR. City will of course be a loss, but hey you never know.

Respectfully, have a word with yourself and look what the team, manager and club has done in the last two seasons, especially last season.

Enjoy it.

I'm just going to enjoy the ride, we deserve it as a club and fans, don't hold out much hope for Liverpool or City and to be honest, and where we are currently, I can't quite buy into the optimism that we'll stay up, but that's not the be all and end all.

It will be fun to give our welcome all the PL clubs at PR.

We be grand...last two seasons success was getting in to top two or play offs and getting out of that auful league...each game made us nervous as a loss was seen as a backward step ..we have reached the promised land..and success now is jst staying up and putting in a good performance..no more is expected of us . So relax and enjoy the ride..im sure players now will play with more freedom as knowing 4th from bottom. Will still guarantee the big time again .

2-2 draw first game. Var controversy.

Lose 3-0 at city. And it could have been more.

Beat Fulham 2-1 in a decent game.

4 points from 9. Pleasing.

Planning on putting 200% to get behind the team. If we all give it the max and stick tightly together with the club and team, we stand a good chance. This is our secret weapon, our togetherness.

I think we need to stand proud, puff our chests out and say we are Ipswich Town, if you want to take points off of us, you better be ready to fight us for them, because our support is right behind the players and we will scrap till the 110th minute

Do not leave the ground with anything left inside, they are going to need us more than ever this season, and that team has earned the right to have our full support regardless of what happens.

Think blue army at Barnsley and Cov, it needs to be tribal

I look back on that game quite often as well , deflected free kick from Veno first goal of the Premier league season and of course the following Tuesday evening Wilnis fabulous goal to gain us a point against David Beckham and Man U under the lights at Portman rd .

I don’t think it helps with how long we’ve been away from the prem and that we were playing league one football only 15 months ago. Our rise has been so quick, to a lot of people we’re still seen as little Ipswich who have no chance of staying up. And in fairness, a fairly large chunk of our support has never seen us play a league game against the big boys so of course it probably seems like an impossible task.

As a nice reminder though, we were the 2nd best team in what was probably one of the hardest championship seasons in years. We have one of the best coaches in the country with a team that has been playing together for two and half years that will also be supplemented by some decent new arrivals.

I think we’ll surprise a few this year.

In terms of the first two, I would 100% prefer to be facing them in August than November.

Liverpool have been fielding sensible teams. When their stars come in it will change the balance of the team a lot. If we get a few more fit, we will cause them many problems.

We are highly likely to suffer a 6-0/7-1 type defeat this season. It happened to Southampton when in the Prem 2 seasons ago and they were an established prem team and we've come from L1 over 2 seasons.
The important thing is when it happens how the team reacts.
Not saying it will happen against Liverpool, but if it does the fans need continue supporting the team not go all negative.

We're in the Prem, this is where we wanted to be, it will be a challenge, but enjoy it and stay positive whatever is thrown at us.

2 games, 6 points, top 2 still a possibility, we only do second. Defend and attack. There’s only one way to beat them. Delap PL top scorer into Sept. Dare to dream. Aude Vivere.
