At a guess I'd say, the touts have bought plenty of memberships and then deploy their very sophisticated bots/software that snap up the tickets once they're in the queue system.
Not sure what can be done about that but has been the case at the big clubs for a while.
It's hard to police as you don't have to be sophisticated to register new memberships once you're caught. [Post edited 13 Aug 2024 15:08]

Not having the threshold of 1 game was the answer. If it was higher less touts would be getting there hands on them. I've pointed this out before when moaning that the threshold was unfair but got called entitled....but there you go. |  | | |

Surely if a QR code gets rejected because it has already been used it could be automatically flagged and easy to investigate who originally purchased it. |
Yes. Altho the original purchaser may not be the person producing the couterfeits.
The information could have been stolen en masse from the club or ticket selling organisation's systems.
A QR code could have been extrapolated from known information (i.e. if they can work out the sequence, it can be recreated).
Or, if they aren't worried about repeat business, simply produce forged tickets which look right and have the correct wording, but the actual ID info (e.g. the QR code) is meaningless, random, or genuine but all identical. |  |

From a revenue point that makes no sense though, you'd want to incentivise as many people as possible to buy a membership.
A higher threshold to the game would only mean the can is kicked down the road until the touts have caught up the requisite membership points. | | | |

The threshold is only 1 game for the ballot, once they go on ‘normal’ sale it is just any non-ST holders with a membership, there is no requirement to have attended a game before |  |

No of course. The reality is clubs don't care about the re-sale of tickets as it helps them financially. None of them have great morals.
If they did then the act of shady ticket re-selling wouldn't be so prominent and so easy to do with no deterrent. | | | |

Agreed. even if you said 1 game in the last 2 seasons, it would stop any new/touts getting hold of them.
However, as someone else said, commercially that isn't great as many memberships purchased as possible.
However, having said that, say itsa an extra 2000 memberships at £40, thats only £80k which isn't going to go too far........! | | | |

And that would be a very unlikely investment two to three years ago unless you were very confident the Americans were serious operators
