On way out of ground heard two guys saying he’s ’been found out’ at this level.

The utter disrespect. He was great today and anyone slating him should get a grip. He’s been a legend for two seasons, why the disrespect!??

He looked to me as if he’d spent his whole career playing in the premier league . It’s a shame that it took until he was pushing 30 until he found a coach who helped him make the most of his ability.

Sounds like they are the ones who have been found out!

Poll: Right now, who would you rather have as Prime Minister?

As much as I love Morsy and Mass, I cant see either of them being starters come the end of the season. Shoot me down but for me the midfield was our weakness today. They are not going to be afforded the time or space to be affective in the prem that they had in league 1 or the championship. It's why Phillips has been brought in and why we are about to sign cajuste.

Took to Premier League football like a duck to water imo. Probably had t work even harder with Mas being slightly off the pace.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

In amongst 27000 home fans you are never going to get a uniform view of the world.

Don’t worry about it. If he has been “found out” then at least it was against a side that has recently won the premiership and champions league. Not a bad level.

And he wasn’t anyway. He just naturally was never going to dominate in there. But he was decent and held his own.

There are a lot of people making snap judgements, negative and positive, after one game. It's odd.

Truly impaired.

I'd be surprised if Morsy doesn't remain a regular. Luongo doesn't quite have the mobility for prem but has so much quality as well. I think he will become a squad player for sure.

Ability-wise he certainly looked very competent in there. He made some good tackles, kept the ball well and played some good passes. Business as usual in those regards.

However it was quite noticeable (especially after 60 mins) that he is quite lacking in pace. Don't know if he was tiring after an all-action 1st half, but 60-onwards the midfield seemed to go missing and there was A LOT of space for Liverpool there. Think Luongo is in the same boat, although he was hooked soon afterwards.

Disappointed by Taylor when he came on - didn't seen to add anything going forwards and lacked defensive bite.

Morsey will be an important part of this team this season and will start the majority of games i would imagine, however unlike the last 2 seasons I wouldnt advise him playing the full 90 every game and will expect to see him subbed off in some of the higher intensity games to freshen the legs a little.

A lot of our players will have a harder time this season
But Sam is the reason why we will stay up gives 100%
He is a modern day legend for our club
Give him the respect he deserves 👍

Looked to me like Leif had to play a more traditional LB role than last year as Salah was playing so high and wide.
Last year he linked more across the middle with Morsy and Mass to effectively become a third midfielder/winger.

Wasn’t Mass’ best game yesterday, or Taylor when he came on, which meant Morsy was repeatedly outnumbered in the middle and gave him a ton of work to do.

But boy did he work. He was just awesome.
With Phillips and Cajuste in there with him, we’ll win more than our share of midfield battles.

Can’t wait!!

I thought Mass did pretty well yesterday, first half. He limited TAA’s ability to influence the game. He’ll have a part to play this year, albeit not as a regular starter. As for Morsy anyone who can’t see how important he is to us is daft. Was excellent yesterday. Second half we were overrun in the middle but not sure you can pin that solely on him.

Can’t really call out anyone for having a bad game no one stood out in that regard! Watching on the tellybox we seemed to lose our shape and cohesion when Burns went off,we seemed to lose a bit of intensity.

Why is there such drama over an overheard conversation between two anonymous fans who don't represent the vast majority of tens of thousands of fans? If the OP felt so strongly, just gently challenge them in a reasonable way. It is possible to disagree with someone in a non-confrontational way. Or do the math and think 2 views amongst contrasting views of thousands and thousands of other fans and so their views are meaningless.

It's probably a bit early for Post of the Day, so I'll mark this comment as a late entry for Post of the Week.

We are going to need to be clinical up front, that is clear and the goalkeepers will be harder to beat. We need to work out what went wrong during that 2nd half and fix that.

My gut was defence as they seemed to have a lot of space up top in our half 2nd half,
So not sure how they were doing that

Is fair to say "Morsy has been found out"? - Absolutely not.
It is disrespectful to speak of him in such terms, after all he has done & the quality he has shown for us over the last 3 years? - Most certainly.
But is it reasonable to assess his performance, over 98 minutes, against Premier League opposition, with the backdrop of 2 international holding midfielders of 'on paper' higher stock, in their 20s, having just been targetted & signed(presumably) - well I think that is a justifiable conversation or debate for fans to have.
For me, both Morsy & Luongo had a very good first half, and were instrumental in our success during that period. But they had to work their socks off in as we pressed high & marked individually, which is impossible to keep up over a full game, even if they weren't both in well into their 30s now.
Listening to McKenna's press conferences before & after the game - comments like "This game will be a reward for all those who have gotten us here" & references to us needing to bring a few more players in over the next 2 weeks, on top of the 3 arrivals this week (I'm counting Cajuste), along with saying that team will have to get better to deal with the challenge the PL brings, makes me think he is reinforcing the position to the board re: a number of further signings, but also preparing the players AND the fans for the serious change in personel, from those that have gotten us here, of the starting XI going forward. Certainly Phillips & Cajuste won't have been convinced to come to Portman Road, at a key point in their careers, without been given certain assurances over playing time, so of course Morsy & Luongo are as under threat as anyone else in the team.
The one thing I would add about yesterday, is that Liverpool have identified their midfield as the area that they most need to address with a signing & arguably don't have a true ball winning, combative holding midfielder there atm. They will undoubtedly sign one & be stronger for it, so that is the standard we are now contending with.

no I think it was midfield where we had a gap, that resulted in the defence being put under pressure more.

Morsy was fine, and Mass played well first half, tired 2nd and maybe should have been subbed sooner, our traditional 60ish min changes were just a bit later than the game needed, but I think he did his job perfectly based on what we expect from players to basically run themselves out like that in games, and then rotate like for like.

Phillips no doubt will start more games this season.

we'll see, squad rotation will be a bigger thing this season, and we were pretty hot on it in the past.
