How is he £40m ?

The only Muff in Town.

When in full flow he’s a smashing player and only 22. But I know what you mean. £40m? Prices are off the scale. The way it is, I suppose.

No idea how dirty Leeds fans feel about this. It’s one thing having one of your best young talents in Gray nabbed by Spurs, but Rutter to Brighton? The price of failing to get promoted I suppose.

How times change.

The leeds united forum is a great read, many fans predict gnonto will also be gone now his 2 best mates have moved on

It was his buy-out clause, Leeds set it I guess assuming no club would be stupid enough to hit it. But Brighton are obviously cash rich after being in the prem for a few years, plus they have sold a few over the last few seasons for a lot of money.

I guess the lesson is make sure you add in a stupid buy-out clause to every player contract

Would imagine others have a similar process to me.

Initially thinking that's more than twice what we paid for Omari, more than twice what we paid for Greaves, more than twice what Villa paid for Philogene, all top Championship players like Rutter.

Then realizing it's Brighton so he must be definitely worth that as they never seem to get much wrong!

A lot of thier players have left due to various buy-out clauses (and loan clauses last season) which their fans are very unhappy about.

But the question remains, would Rutter have signed in the first place if that clayuse wasn't inserted?

I do love the way they can't understand why they're still below Brighton in the pecking order

If I remember correctly, Brighton had about £200m of FFP headroom this summer from some epic sales/profits. They were always likely to spend big this window. Makes me even more gob-smacked that we were able to convince KMac to stay and not have fun in the transfer market with Albion.

I imagine that the buy out clause was set lower because Leeds didn't get out of the Championship. They got their money back, but the player wasn't priced out of a move to a higher level. It seems fair all round.

Just seen his stats......6 goals last season. Wow I thought it was more than that they way peo[ple seem to love him....!

I have to say, Summerville I never thought was that good, a bit of a one trick pony which works in the championship due to his sheer pace. Premier League I can imagine him not being as devastating.

Not sure how Rutter is worth £40m.

The one that shocked me yesterday, Skipp for £25m

Rutter and Gnonto summed Leeds up for me. Totally unplayable at times but very ordinary and anonymous far too often. Both on massive wages, the kind of players who shine when all is going well but are far too costly when it isn't.

Other than the £5M we're reportedly paying McKenna, I think the other thing that went in our favour is the BHA manager has very little input into who is signed.

Their model is for the manager to submit player profiles to the recruitment team (led by David Weir) and they do the rest.

Just shows what a bargain Hutch was.

Rutter too often didn’t turn up for big games, Hutch dragged us through them with some top class moments eg Hull away and S’ton away. Hutch has a higher ceiling too in my humble opinion!

He’s a top talent with a very very high ceiling from what I’ve seen. Brighton will lose pedro to a top 4 side at some point so I assume this is readying them for that.
