Indeed. Tedium ad nauseum Ruins the best football message board by far IMHO.

Removed thread on 13:56 - Oct 4 by GlasgowBlue | It was still there when I went to bed, although I hadn't contributed since late afternoon but when I woke up this morning there was some low level abuse aimed at Texters and myself from Big Al, who seems to exist just for the late night abuse. As much as we may disagree, you are always courteous and at times (he says begrudgingly) insightful. |
I’d say only having a problem with x4 individuals out of the hundreds of decent posters on here is a spectacularly decent return really. #gangoffour

Your first post in a week is to start waving imaginary red cards at other posters. Poor form. [Post edited 4 Oct 2024 14:39]

Not a fan of the ignore function. It might work with occasional posters, but the four-piece are all prolific posters who spend an inordinate amount of their waking life on here. It makes threads very difficult to follow, if their contributions are hidden. Thanks for your contribution though

But why downvote them regardless of the content? Isn’t that a bit childish? You even downvoted a post publicising the documentary about the murder of 400 beautiful young innocent people at the Nova Music festival. What person with any decency would downvote that?

This might explain why... Board divisiveness by Bigalhunter 1 Jun 2024 22:03Tricky one that.
I don’t know how you would begin to quantify just how many squabbles are escalated by the arrow voting system.
Most disagreements have been cultivated over years and are now irrevocably ingrained.
Two distinct groups of long-term members have formed on here, based exclusively on non-football related issues.
I fully admit that I have cultivated a strong dislike for x5 posters on here, based purely, with one exception, on the tone and content of their contributions on world affairs and politics.
The other one, I’ve had the misfortune of encountering (anonymously) pre-match at a game, and they re-iterated everything I disliked about them in print form.
In the cold light of day, it’s pathetic, but when I pop in to see what’s happening, I find myself siding with those who argue and provoke that group. It’s no surprise they follow the same petty path in response.
I know a couple of the group react badly to downvotes, so it’s a satisfying weapon if you can’t be arsed to engage.
Reading this back for spelling mistakes, it’s actually even more ridiculous and futile and I only drop in occasionally to see what’s happening at Portman Rd.
Imagine being on here most of the day, and that behaviour could become almost compulsive.
I pity Phil, because it’s the familiar faces that cause him the most headaches, he’s alluded to that very clearly in his message, and it will probably get worse in the build up to the General Election.
Upshot is I’ve posted a load of old waffle whilst trying to convince two grandkids that the Champions League Final is far more exciting than TikTok. [Post edited 4 Oct 2024 15:35]

On the removed thread he accused me of drinking with Texters demanding lesser sentences for the racists scumbags who were hounding out innocent asylum seekers, immigrants and British nationals of colour and mocking people with mental health issues. That is absolute bollox. Pull me up for what I post by all means, but to make up stuff like that is abuse. Nothing more and nothing less. I assume this is what WKJ is alluding to about using BS as a weapon. [Post edited 4 Oct 2024 15:44]

Quite proud of that. Struck a nice balance between honesty and contrition. I forgot that it was actually five at the time, but one of them has subsequently been confined to the naughty step. Gone and forgotten it would seem.

Removed thread on 10:50 - Oct 4 by Cafe_Newman | A quick request to the pot stirrers, flamers, trolls and politics-obsessed: Please keep away from the Leif Davis draught excluder thread. So far we've had 13 pages of good-natured discourse and harmony there. We don't agree on everything on that thread but opposing opinions have so far been dealt with in a respectful way. For many of us it's a safe zone where we can retreat to at TWTD when passions and tetchiness rise in other threads. |

Always enjoy your work, Frimmers. You’re a good read. Don’t agree with everything you say, but you stand your ground admirably in the face of some ridiculously pathetic pile-ons. How’s the old fitness regime going? You were making some cracking progress last update I read.

I would imagine that explanation represents the thoughts of a significant number of regular visitors to the site who can't be bothered to get involved in the regular feuds over the usual contentious topics.
