Leaving before the end 20:14 - Oct 6 with 6640 views | onceablue | This has provoked some arguments on twitter I see I am sorry, if you leave before the end it does not make you less of a fan as some people are suggesting. A friend of mine left 15 mins before the end because he could not face the chaos of that crap stadium and queuing for trains. I was Back in Ipswich, sorry he was back in Ipswich by 6 so he could spend time with the family If you stayed to the end well done you obviously are a far greater fan than my friend

You can do what you want, but your can't do what you want without being judged for it.
Leaving before the end on 13:54 - Oct 7 with 1141 views | Europablue | Leaving early to spend time with family is a load of nonsense. If you want to spend time with family don't go to the match in the first place.

Leaving before the end on 09:48 - Oct 7 by DinnernotTea | And by the way an identical result was had at Man City. If you were there, you'd realise 3,000 fans stayed until the very end. A) we put up a fight that day B) you didn't have to battle the hell hole of Stratford and its train station. West Ham away without a doubt up there with the worst away days. |
In that case it was a good one not to even bother going to.

Leaving before the end on 11:05 - Oct 7 by DinnernotTea | You keep putting your superfan cape on but at the moment I don't see many caring. Your attitude screams of wanting a ticket but can't get one and now you're having digs. If you do go to every single away game like you've claimed why do you give a toss what the other 2,999 fans do? What's it got to do with you? |
Why do you care so much that he has an opinion about it?

I reckon that people should.... on 11:39 - Oct 7 by Asa | Bizarre that anyone thinks otherwise! I went to 22/23 league away games in League One and all the away cup games (including the Pizza Cup and Bracknell. 16/23 in the Championship, plus cup games . 5/5 this season including Wimbledon and will likely be doing them all this season. Must have spent well over £3k on tickets, travel and accommodation on the odd occasion (Cheltenham, Exeter and a couple of others) in just over 2 years and done something like 18,000 miles in that time. Got to be 12-15 night matches in that as well, often getting in at 2am or 3am for the longer trips and working early the next morning. If I want to leave on 89 minutes against West Ham, as I did on Saturday, I bloody well will do! :) [Post edited 7 Oct 2024 11:43]

My Dad left early against Southampton at home last season.
Leaving before the end on 14:35 - Oct 7 with 1069 views | Vaughan8 | I think at 4-1 with 15 minutes left is understandable. I remember at Middlesborough once we were 3-0 down and me leaving 7-8 minutes early probably meant I save 30 Mins+ getting home on a long journey.................. and i ended up missing a Walters penalty I think in inury time...! Some people do it when its a draw, or 1 goal difference. personally i wouldn't do that, but each to their own. I'm suire there are some ST holders who leave early every game just to public transport and not having to wait another hour or so and they're happy to see 85 mins each week

Leaving before the end on 13:27 - Oct 7 by DJR | I suggested on here using Pudding Mill Lane, the nearest station to the away end. I left after the final whistle and got on a train to Canary Wharf just after I arrived on the platform. At the same time a train travelling in the opposite direction the one stop to Stratford left without it being full. Perhaps rather bizarrely football fans converging on the station coincided with many glamorously-dressed women leaving the Abba concert just next to the station. [Post edited 7 Oct 2024 14:50]

yep…we were one of the last to leave the Stadium and also used pudding lane…then back tracked to Liverpool St and nabbed a seat for the journey home..I’ve used the train for three games this season ..Citeh…Brighton and Saturday and they’ve all had issues..people having to stand for ages etc…almost makes you wonder whether maybe the coaches aren’t such a bad option….

It's a toss up between Brighton and Citeh for me, Brighton for queues at Falmer and Citeh for the train delay of an hour at Piccadily. West Ham was a doddle for me, and I was home by 6.35, not much later than a Millwall game, the easiest game for me to get to. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Leaving before the end on 15:21 - Oct 7 with 988 views | flykickingbybgunn | Those wanting or needing to go home early must do what they must do. They have paid their money so it's up to them. The only beef I would have with those doing so is when they push past me it always seems to be at a crutial moment. At such times I reserve the right to tut and frown.

Leaving before the end on 10:40 - Oct 7 by textbackup | Was it that bad getting away? We walked for 5mins, went in a bar, then sat in there until about 7ish, then walked to the station with ease. |
So basically took you 2 hours to get to the station.

Leaving before the end on 09:46 - Oct 7 by DinnernotTea | Of course it was the reason that's pretty obvious. Not sure how many or your last away but when you're 4-1 down and facing ques on the way back to Stratford station (20 minute walk anyway) with stewards with stop/go signs. On top of that for me players completely waving the white flag then leaving on 70 is common sense. You can battle the hell hole of Stratford Station and delays etc if our players put up a fight but they didn't. Not sure you've been to a game at that stadium but you'll know what I mean if you have. |
Agree with your point regarding leaving the ground. We left on 85 mins as there was no way back at that point. Plus getting to the away end was a nightmare, so leaving was going to be a sh!t show

I don't think I've ever left a game early where the teams were separated by a goal or less. I'd have been gutted to miss something like that! My youngest son has been to every home game since before McKenna took over except for one. Southampton! He'd been violently throwing up during the day. Was desperate for an injury time winner against Villa for him as he cannot believe that was the one game he missed!
Leaving before the end on 17:08 - Oct 7 with 810 views | The_Flashing_Smile | Leaving early does make you less of a supporter. Literally. You're not supporting if you've left! And who are you kidding that you were back in Ipswich by 6 so you could spend time with the family?! Crap stadium, queuing for trains, family - all excuses. You were butt-hurt at being 4-1 down and wanted to get the hell out of there. Just say what it is!

Yep, this was our experience - Pudding Mill Lane - and got us to Stratford and on a Central Line tube to Epping (where I’d parked) by 5.15 and in car by 5.45/50. Abba thing was slightly surreal after the football.

The OP is bothered by what people on twitter are saying so asked for our opinions on here. Which we've given. I don't care what someone wants to do with their time, but if they want to come on here making excuses for leaving early then some people will probably call that out.
