Leaving before the end 20:14 - Oct 6 with 6639 views | onceablue | This has provoked some arguments on twitter I see I am sorry, if you leave before the end it does not make you less of a fan as some people are suggesting. A friend of mine left 15 mins before the end because he could not face the chaos of that crap stadium and queuing for trains. I was Back in Ipswich, sorry he was back in Ipswich by 6 so he could spend time with the family If you stayed to the end well done you obviously are a far greater fan than my friend

And who are you kidding that you were back in Ipswich by 6 so you could spend time with the family?! Crap stadium, queuing for trains, family - all excuses. You were butt-hurt at being 4-1 down and wanted to get the hell out of there. Just say what it is! |
I didn’t want to watch us losing, with no real sign of getting back into it, absolutely no issue with that. And as I was sat in the home end I didn’t even have any mates to talk to. My time was better spent getting to the pub. If we are 4-1 at Brentford with 15mins left, I’ll do the same.

I don't really get the issue. 1-4 down. The players aren't looking at the away end thinking oh text has left. I feel sad now. There's thousands of others still there making noise.

Absolutely, don't have a problem with that. You couldn't support from the home end anyway, you'd get your head caved in. I don't have a problem with people leaving early... it's all the excuses afterwards! We all know why you left early, no need for all this dressing it up in trains, queues and family bowlocks. I'd probably want to get to the pub at 4-1 down as well.
| Trust the process. Trust Phil. |

I reckon that people should.... on 16:58 - Oct 7 by Asa | I don't think I've ever left a game early where the teams were separated by a goal or less. I'd have been gutted to miss something like that! My youngest son has been to every home game since before McKenna took over except for one. Southampton! He'd been violently throwing up during the day. Was desperate for an injury time winner against Villa for him as he cannot believe that was the one game he missed! |
My Dad has a habit of leaving early since we used to go to the match together. We used to park up the hill across the park behind the station so I would run out of the station and up usually catch him by the time we got to the car. I knew he would have missed the goal against Southampton as I was watching on TV, and so it was he sent me a report about a missed opportunity to win the game. I'm sorry your son missed it. I think it might have eclipsed the time we came back from 2 down to beat Sheffield Utd. as the best live match I saw at Portman Road (we couldn't get tickets for the playoffs).
Leaving before the end on 19:02 - Oct 7 with 577 views | Bobbychase | There is a bit of irony in singing "your support is ****ing sh**" to the West Ham fans a few times in the first half then leaving on the hour mark because the game wasn't going so well. Appreciate some just left to get earlier trains back but a few were guilty of the above behaviour.

They've paid their money, and if they no longer feel entertained enough to stay, then why should they stay? It's really not complicated. I personally never leave before the final whistle because I have a severe case of FOMO. I also like to clap the team after a game because I'm not the type of person that gets so angry during a game that I want to call players s**t and throw stuff. The players are human beings, they have tried their best, I believe, even if they've had a horror show of a performance, so I think, given that their job performance is in the public domain to be praised or trashed by the wider public, it warrants some human beings like me, if I so choose, to let them know that it's ok, even though they were crap today, that we still support them and believe in them. That makes me feel like a supporter. Other people have different ways to feel like a supporter. And that's ok too. [Post edited 7 Oct 2024 19:45]
