Be silly to think refs don’t talk this amongst themselves, in their own privacy, they’re human beings just like players and managers. Slap on the wrist, telling off, drop to the Championship/L1 for the season and move on. |
With Klopp now at Red Bull, I suspect Leeds would have issues if he was to ref any of their games or any games that could have an impact on him - bearing in mind their fans still chant about a referee decision from 1975... I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to move to somewhere like Saudi.

Referees are human beings and get into refereeing because they are football fans, which comes with all sorts of allegiances and biases. They will also all have managers and characters they like/dislike more than others. He's been really silly and will likely pay the price with his job (at PL level anyway at a minimum). Problem for the PGMOL is that this brings into focus the natural human bias (unconscious or otherwise) that all their referees will have. |
Yep, totally agree with all this. Not sure all the opinions would be this strong (I'm a football fan but I don't have any managers I dislike particularly) but it's more the airing of these opinions that's the problem. I guess we haven't had to think about it before, but all refs will have some sort of biases. But like I say, it's more that he's given such strong ones there (and recorded it for posterity!)

Disgusting isn't it? They joke in the first video about not ruining a man's career, but that's exactly what they've done.

I think they call that foreshadowing. Still time for him to get a role in I’m A Celebrity.

This feels to me as if it goes above and beyond him having ad a bit of a barney with a former friend.

You do wonder. Especially given the context of the substance he has allegedly been caught doing on video and how vulnerable that leaves him. Not a position he should be in.
