Harry Clarke will be delighted with his England call up. Also as impressive as Morsy is being simulataneously at home and away is a good trick!

Yep, if it is as bad as suggested then a break is definitely needed - he was excellent yesterday

He was the best player on the pitch, whcih considering what we were up against is pretty incredible. The way he fought through the challenge for 2nd goal showed what was coming, but he was able to manage that game so well. Just beating player, running away from them, winning cheap free kicks......that boy is going to the very top He's put a picture on his Insta of 4-5 players chasing him that looks so good, this one here is great too https://img-s-msn-com.akamaized.net/tenant/amp/entityid/AA1tRjjL.img?w=768&h

Got it, thought I was reading it wrong. I think going on international duty is a positive thing, it'll be great for Hutchinson and Delap to be in and amongst that talented England squad again and be competing with Netherlands and Spain. Obviously the main thing is they all come back fit.

He was absolutely Sue Perb. That for me is exactly why he needs to play centrally, there's been loads of noise about him playing on the right but he's such a dangerous carrier of the ball and brings what nobody else in our squad can bring us there.

Yes lots of noise and moaning on here yesterday when the teams were announced and Chappers wasn't starting in the 10 role. The same posters went rather quiet on the subject a couple of hours later!

Definitely, going back to the Liverpool match it was him and Delap who caused them any problems. Yesterday he was pushed up alongside, or sometimes even ahead of Delap, depending on where we were pressing. Such a mature footballer and only going to get better. There have been times when Omari's game hasn't quite come off this season but, given the step up, that's not too surprising. A lot of yesterday was just excellent.

I had the same thought about Liverpool, and Man City to a lesser extent. I said at the time he looked about the only one who perhaps wouldn't have looked out of place in their side rather than ours, which given the opposition is praise indeed. Not to say he'll be on it every week as he's still young and finding his feet, but his ceiling is so high. Similar for Delap, and if we get those wider roles right we should continue to have a very dangerous attacking threat. Szmodics is staking the biggest claim on one side with Leif, the other side is perhaps more up for grabs.

Alot of his work came down the right. He wasn't central. We used him correctly yesterday in a role which brought out the best in him. I didn't like some the previous games with him playing with a burns or ogbene as he would stay too central and we didn't get the best use out of him. Yesterday's formation has to be our go to from now on. It had everything. [Post edited 11 Nov 2024 16:29]

That's been true of pretty much every game this season, his bias is to operate right when you see the heat maps, which I presume is by design. Its very different lining up as we did yesterday and him having that licence vs. him being the out and out right sided replacement for Burns / Ogbene though as some suggested which I can't agree with. Otherwise there's no red in the centre of that heat map. The 2nd goal is case in point, he's not getting the white of the right hand touchline on his boots, he's skipping away from a challenge in the centre circle, driving forward on the left and playing in Szmodics. Yesterday was a bit different with a naturally less attacking Johnson which effectively doubled as a back 5 at times. Omari's so dangerous I think you need him where he can hurt the opposition 180 degrees. Any wider and he's only hurting them 90 degrees left.

Yeah and without wanting to be too blunt I think people need to open their eyes a bit with him to see how he's actually playing the role. He spends a lot of time drifting out to the right as has every player we've played in that position since McKenna's been here but starting from that central position is a lot different to actually being on the right from the off. Also seems pretty clear what attributes he has over Chaplin in that role and why he's starting more than him, not that there won't be times when Chaplin's set of skills might come in handy.
