regular gym users 11:18 - Nov 14 with 2206 views | FrimleyBlue | Recently upped the intensity of my PT sessions, but today was the first time i'd felt physically sick towards the end of the session, any tips on reducing this or is it just a normal thing until you kinda get 'used' to that level of intensity?

But also it could be your nutrition before working out (some people need to wait a while after eating before working out or some people can eat right beforehand). Test out different foods before working out - I have a ‘big’ meal 2 hours before then a banana and some sweets right before working out for example, works ok for me. It may also be dehydration - not drinking enough before or during working out. Sports drinks/electorates very good. Or just a pinch a salt + sugar in your water has worked for me. Or a combination of all 3.

This. Never underestimate the importance of good diet & hydration when it comes to workouts. I'd add sleep to that list.

Totally agree. Don't do intense exercise to cure a hangover. Ever. (Memo to self: take your own advice)

Can safely say my hangover cure has always been bacon sandwiches and not, ever, intense exercise.

The instructor told me the problem was buying cheddar bites, a wispa and a can of monster from it before my boxercise class. Seriously, though take the wise advice of Clive Baker, slowly build up but stick with it, Frimmers, you’re doing a grand job!

Nope... I used to have a membership and did use it, but when it became difficult to get enough time to go regularly enough, I stopped both going and paying.

regular gym users on 16:06 - Nov 14 with 1386 views | Deano69 | Be worth considering what you have had to eat and drink leading up to the session. Sounds like a case of lactic acid possibly, and the workout might need a gradual warm down at the end?

regular gym users on 16:07 - Nov 14 with 1380 views | tcblue | When your body is intensely exercising, it finds ways to optimise its energy usage. A huge part of the energy usage is spent on metabolism, so in those extremes, vomiting (or prompting it) is a way to save energy. So in short, this is normal when you're pushing yourself. In even shorter, I agree that skintight lycra will help. Crotchless, of course
regular gym users on 16:15 - Nov 14 with 1359 views | NewcyBlue | What are you doing? Cardio? Weights? HIIT? Are you drinking too much water before and during your exercise? Working out takes blood flow away from your stomach so this is a natural response. If you’re not comfortable with the feeling dial it back 10% and see how you feel. But progressive overload is important, don’t just stay at one level because you don’t want to push harder.

This morning was a mixture of weights and cardio. First time with this PT and 7am this morning. Nothing to eat before as didn't think that was a good idea but drank water during the session..you might be onto something there as I pretty much drank the bottle in that session. Think it's my body saying wtf is that. After many months of cardio gym sessions I haven't really done much actual weight work tbh. I am buzzing Tho. A year ago I could barely walk the stairs so to do what I did today was amazing.

Some people train well on an empty stomach, some don’t. Personally I prefer fasted cardio in the mornings because I just feel better for it. Weights, I prefer mid afternoon, so I have had some food during the day for fuel. I tend not to mix cardio and weights in the same session. There is something called the SAID principle. Specific Adaption to Imposed Demands. Basically concurrent training (cardio and strength in the same session) has been shown to negatively impact both, as your body doesn’t know whether to improve strength or stamina. I tend not to drink too much water during my sessions, there’s no need. I’m not running a marathon. For weights, remember it’s not what you lift but how you lift. It sounds like you’ve made incredible changes, keep on doing what you are doing.
