Utd fans in the home end 21:55 - Nov 24 with 3504 viewsarnold241

At the game today was left very frustrated by the number of man utd fans in the home end, not just that but the lack of any effort to hide it.

Particular note to the bunch of utd fans trying to get shirts signed just outside of the tunnel.

Is this really acceptable when tickets are so scarce?

Should stewards not be telling them to put them away, or better leave?

We're very spoilt as this is the only thing I have a bit of a gripe about at the mo 😂

No-one says anything on here when it’s Town fans in the home sections at our away games??

What goes around comes around. I’ve been in the opposite side often enough (but would keep a low profile).

Those of us of a certain age will remember the game in 1992/93 when Yallop scored the winner. The NS was just one tier then and about one-fifth was Man U. Not an exaggeration. When I celebrated our goals a United fan next to me told me to sit down and shut up.

Strange times really.

I think you're all right tbh, don't know why I'm annoyed about it. Don't particularly think it's preventable, I just hate the blatant disregard from hiding away shirts really.

Cest la vie

Had a nice couple behind me who had flown over from New York for the match. Said they were supporting town but it was their first ever football game. Can't imagine they have gone through the rigmarole of being a member so it must be 3rd party sellers. Amazing how global premierleague is.

One of the biggest clubs in the world. Got to expect it.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Were you at the Spurs game? Ipswich fans in a number of areas, including hospitality, celebrated our goals. Happens everywhere in the premier league.

I was in with the Norwich mob at Carrow Sherry bottle Road in 1992 when the second goal went in we couldn’t hold it back. Neither could about 100 others in the River End that night. Tbh, at away games my dad and I would always go in wherever we could.

If the MU fans are using ITFC season tickets and cctv ought to be able to identify the seats where they were if they were making themselves obvious, I’d be happy to see those season tickets given to true supporters.

The reality is Man U fans are like rats, there will be a lot of closet ones who are local or know a fan they can get tickets off etc

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

I remember the 2000 game there were loads of Man Utd fans in the home end too. Just the way it is for these types of games.

All you have to remember is for most of them that's the nearest they've been to seeing "their" team play live, and not on TV for a change.

I was even offered 2 tickets by a Spurs supporter, albeit he is a good mate of mine.

While it can be annoying to find an away fan near you, they are not the villains. They are genuine fans willing to do anything to see their team.

There is nothing the club could have done to have stopped it happening. They can however take steps to stop it happening again. Provide the club with seat number, especially if you know it is a season ticket holder. It is clear from resale sites that we have amongst us individuals prepared to profit from selling tickets on.

At the very least the club should then issue a warning.
