No idea but I doubt anyone at the time disagreed with him!

I wasn’t at that game, but I was at Highbury for the return match later in the season when we took them to the cleaners 4-1.

I sometimes forget that Gates was around the senior team when I see these older games, mainly because he didn't feature at Wembley.

Also, looks like the entire North was given over to the Gooners.

That season Town fans were to the left as you look from the pitch so you couldn't see them after that goal that end

not sure why they swapped it round

Eric was very much a bit part player who featured more and more from 1977 on. When the Dutch players came, a devastating role was found for him behind the front two that most teams employ now. In 76 he would have been about 21. He was a fantastic footballer.

Originally the away fans were always at the Portman Rd side but they changed it so they could march them to the station the other direction.

We sat in the main stand with the Clock end to the right of us. We had similar seats the following season, but sadly we got walloped I think 4-1. I actually saw us a lot at Highbury and saw us win more than lose. Sounds strange today given how it is with the six elite clubs now.

Edit: the 4-1 loss was 78/79 season

I like that kit.

I also liked the Beat running in from outside the box to make sure he hit the penalty hard enough.
Hunters comments appeared to have several ff s in it. I am sure I dont understand what he said.

Eric Gates did

So did Liverpool

E Gates would recieve the ball with his back to the goal on the edge of the penalty area. He would turn and flick the ball forward. The central defender sticks out a leg to stop it and the boy Eric says thank you very much and falls over it into the penalty area.
Step up J Wark 1-0, 2-0 etc

After the pen, nothing worse than lobbing a toilet roll which doesn't unfurl.
