The third goal 22:17 - Dec 21 with 11445 views | Garv | It's not even Muric's fault. It's the same pass we play every week and we've not made that mistake until now. It's down to Cajuste, he strangely tries to take a touch and roll his man. Morsy just pops that off to O'Shea/Clarke in that situation when he gets it. Yeah there's an argument for game management at that stage of the game, going into half time, but there's also the argument that pumping it long to Szmodics wasn't doing any good, and we had to keep trying to pass through them. That's not on Muric in my opinion.

The third goal on 22:36 - Dec 21 with 5692 views | FrimleyBlue | It's definitely on cajuste which pains me as I love him. But rule number 1. Don't try turn a player in or around the edge of your own box. As you say it's a quick 1 touch pass back or to the side.

The third goal on 22:36 - Dec 21 with 5705 views | Illinoisblue | We’re 2-0 down and just seconds to go before half time. Just whack it long or out for a throw and go in and regroup. It was foolish from Muric and poor from Cajuste
| |
The third goal on 22:41 - Dec 21 with 5661 views | BloomBlue | Yes/No. If Cajuste was calling for it (couldn't tell from my position in the grd) then the fault is with Cajuste Although 30 seconds after the goal, ball goes to Muric in same situation, and he pumps it long.
The third goal on 22:57 - Dec 21 with 5552 views | DublinBlue84 | Muric should have seen that Cajuste was going to be pressured straight away (I haven't seen a replay but live I felt the pressing of the Newcastle player began before Muric released) and went for another option. Unfortunately Cajuste doesn't have eyes in the back of his so he didn't know the pressing was so hard behind him (but arguably shouldn't call for it) and close but Muric has eyes in the front of his should have saw it coming and pumped it long. Perhaps Cajuste could have done it better but with the way the match was it was a stupid ball and bad game management and Muric had a better view than anyone. [Post edited 21 Dec 2024 22:59]

The third goal on 22:58 - Dec 21 with 5544 views | Swailsey | Both their fault, but more so Muric IMO. He could see the danger and still played it. He’s not a machine who has no sentience just because someone asks for the ball, he can choose to not pass it. Jens shouldn’t have called for it. [Post edited 21 Dec 2024 23:01]

The danger was the same danger met all first half yet he played the pass requested by his manager. Christ even KM again made that point after the game. Muric was doing exactly what was asked of him.

No it wasn’t: their player was closer, hence he won the ball back. The situation was different hence the different outcome. You’re letting your anti-KM fog blind you here I think. [Post edited 21 Dec 2024 23:02]

Sorry but this is rubbish, the occasion that led to the goal, Cajuste had someone much tighter on him than in other occasions.

Where's the anti KM fog? I'm defending both keeper and manager here. The only difference in the situation was cajuste turning rather than quick 1 passing the ball. That's literally it. There were 3 with morsy that made me gasp everytime. Suicide balls to me but again that's what was asked of him, morsy literally passed it back without a 2nd thought.

The third goal on 23:33 - Dec 21 with 5252 views | GreenEye | Once the ball went back to Muric, he should have pushed it wide right to O'Shea just as O'Shea was requesting, but he stalled, got closed in and the options were lost

There's danger every time we play that pass though, that's the whole point. The issue here is Cajuste clearly doesn't have the awareness I'd expect Morsy to have to realise just how close the player pressing is, and/or is just silly enough to try and turn in that position. The third goal on 23:42 - Dec 21 with 5158 views | jasondozzell | Agree. Not really anyone's fault. It's the sort of goal that you will concede when playing out from the back but we rarely do. But for every goal like that we concede we've scored hundreds from sticking to the philosophy. Fans wanting to hammer Muric are strange.
The third goal on 23:45 - Dec 21 with 5124 views | StNeotsBlue | I'm not having that, absolutely awful from Muric, Cajuste has a man touch tight to him in our area and Muric plays the ball to him giving him no chance.

And yet if Cajuste plays the usual pass out to the RCB/RB first time, that goal doesn't happen. I don't think the player receiving that pass in our team (Morsy generally) ever tries to turn there, it's suicide, you just play the first time pass.

Cajuste doesn't have eyes in the back of his head to see what is going on behind him, but Muric does have eyes in the front of his and should have seen how tight the player was to Cajuste and picked another option. Cajuste was being pressed even before Muric made a decision to pass it to him.

It was a complete hospital pass from Muric, I'm not advocating banging it upfield but on occasion, especially on the brink of half time needs must. 2-0 at half time would be a challenge but 3 nil was game over.
The third goal on 23:56 - Dec 21 with 4976 views | Ryorry | If I made that kind of stupid, casual, switched-off pass out from the back when in goal at walking football, I’d get mercilessly joshed by both sides and be having to buy the drinks afterwards.

To be fair the real top players DO have eyes in the back of their heads, that is why they are the best players.

Hate to break it to you, but we're Ipswich, just been promoted back to back and have spent almost nothing on our squad compared to the rest of the league. If you're expecting us to have 'real top' and 'best' players at this moment in time you're honestly deluding yourself.

The third goal on 00:15 - Dec 22 with 4870 views | cressi | Muric has a mistake in him every game since the friendlies at Spurs we got lucky after we escaped another horror pass. His decision making is non league level . At the moment a poor buy who will help us go down.
