Fixtures 04:59 - Dec 23 with 1810 viewsGiveusaWave

6 very tough fixtures coming up:

Arsenal (A), Chelsea (H), Fulham (A), Brighton (H), Manchester City (H), Liverpool (A)

Think we will be very lucky to get 4 points from those fixtures. Very difficult end of Dec and January ahead....

Need to somehow stay within touching distance....

0 or 1 point really doesn’t seem too off.

Delap having a week off helps. New signings in the building from Fulham onwards
potentially too.

Arsenal don't have Saka but it's still a free hit, much like Chelsea. Saints held Fulham at their place, we drew with them at ours. Seems like that and Brighton are the ones to hope for the best results.

Knowing our luck, City will rediscover themselves again when they meet us.

We have to get results somewhere. That is the bottom line. This is why those home games against Palace, Bournemouth were seen as 'must wins' or 'must not loses'. Yes, they are better sides than us blah de blah but it is those two games that have really stuck a pin in our balloon. Saturday should have been a much more shrug of the shoulders result than it has been.

Agree on Delap. Probably needed a rest. Saka being out gives Davis a much easier evening.

But any result at the Emirates would be a surprise.

I’m interested to see how the midfield duo of Cajuste and Phillips get on. Thought Phillips looked good when he came on Saturday.

H Clarke against his old team will be a key area, or perhaps we’ll see Johnson.

I posted this on another thread, but nobody picked it up as the thread descended into a bit of infighting.

We obviously have to keep the faith, and hopefully we will strengthen in January, but the thing that worries me is that very few of our remaining fixtures are anything but fairly or very difficult, given the level that the vast majority of Premier League teams appear to be at.

Indeed, of our next 6 fixtures, the "easiest" appears to be Brighton at home. Sadly, it doesn't necessarily get much easier after that.

The real shame for my part is that we really ought to have got a further five or six points in recent weeks (Brentford, Bournemouth, Leicester) which would have made our task from now on that bit easier, assuming that, say, 34 points is needed to avoid relegation.

This is why it was important to pick up maximum points from Southampton, Leicester etc.

Could be a very tough month or so and we will need everyone to stick together.

Survival is going to be tight. Agree we’ll need to stay in touch a little with the teams around us over the next six games.

Arsenal (A), Chelsea (H), Fulham (A), Brighton (H), Manchester City (H), Liverpool (A)

Our match with saints at home on Jan 25th will be a six pointer, simple as that.

This is who our peers have:

Saints

West Ham (h)
Palace (a)
Brentford (h)
Man U (a)
Forest (a)
Newcastle (a)

Leicester

Liverpool (a)
Man City (h)
Villa (a)
Palace (h)
Fulham (h)
Spurs (a)

Wolves

Man U (h)
Spurs (a)
Forest (h)
Newcastle (a)
Chelsea (a)
Arsenal (h)

Palace

Bournemouth (a)
Saints (a)
Chelsea (h)
Leicester (a)
West Ham (h)
Brentford (h)

In short our run looks one of the toughest… palace play rivals, will the likes of Man and Spurs turn up against our rivals? Will Ange still be in a job?!

Let’s try and fight for a couple of draws and seek a win.. and stay in touch

To stay up we really need to win one or two games that on paper punters expect us to lose ... like Tottenham away.

Both Fulham and Brighton fall into that bracket and Chelsea, of course.

Don’t worry about the other 5, lets just focus on Arsenal.
We are going to beat them that is my prediction.

Palace aren't in the race with us.

Looking at those and it's hard to see where Soton/Wolves/Leicester pick up any points either. Saints probably have the easiest run but we don't realistically have to worry about them. Think most of the bottom 4 will be cut away but we'll all still be close to each other at the end of this period.

We also have the benefit that the three of them have all managed to probably appoint managers who are not any better than they had before.

18 points, 18 goals.

Heart says 6 would be a great return. Head says 1 sadly, draw against Brighton at PR.
