Where might we finish at the end of the season 17:22 - Dec 31 with 3500 viewsSuffolkPunchFC

I guess I have too much time on my hands over the Xmas break

Looking at current league position/GD/points, and then taking recent form for the last 6 and 10 games, results in these final tables.

A very simple analysis I know, but not implausible.

I would give my right nut for that 6 game form table to play out 🤣

I had all but given up any hope of staying up. But as your form tables show, if we maintain our current form we will be in with a good shout of staying up. I don’t think it’s unrealistic to hope that we might actually do better in the next 2 sets of 10 games given that we’ve got injured players to come back, a transfer window to strengthen the squad and a team that seems to be properly finding its feet in the prem.

And the possibility of some points deductions coming in for some teams before the season ends? Or has there been a definitive statement to say that the cases won't conclude before the end of the season?

This shows that a small pick up from Everton means we need 43 points to stay up!

I already gave that one up for promotion last season.

Have you not heard the song? Very popular back in the 80s.

Not really.

Assuming you're looking at the 10 game form, 43pts would move us to 15th. An upturn in Everton form would mean we'd need to match their upturn to stay 17th.

Updated after the latest round of Games. Forest on a run of 6 straight wins, which has them as Champions on 6 game form

Our recent run of results is showing promise, but it's very close for 14-18th

However you look at it, I'm pretty confident in predicting that we will get more points out of the return fixtures than we did from the first 19 matches. There are too many variables to predict how Wolves and Everton will do, because one good managerial appointment and Everton could be safely in mid-table.

Not surprisingly, a significant drop for our predicted position after the last 2 results, based on 6 game form. Others have dropped off too - suggesting 28 points would be safe. Seems unlikely, although form will need to pick up for someone near the bottom soon. Spurs continue to be on a downward trajectory.

No way will 43 be the total which ensures safety. Maximum will be 36 needed.

We will finish around 32 points based on how we have performed thus far this season, maybe as low as 30. That will likely mean we will finish 3-4 points off safety, and likely finish 18th.

You may well be right, but it would be insightful to understand where you got the number 32 from. Presumably not reading tea leaves, and you have some data driven methodology to arrive at that number?

Updated trend tables based on form.

No significant change in the predicted points tally for us, however the impact of the goals we've conceded recently can be clearly seen, pulling us down below Wolves on GD.

Spurs' downward trajectory is also reinforced. Unless they turn it around quickly, it will be 2 from 4 in a group that includes them.
